With each passing day, May creeps up closer and closer, and with it comes more news regarding the soon-to-be released Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. In today’s roundup, preliminary reports are beginning to come in that this may be the biggest opening for a Marvel film. That’s saying a lot considering that Captain America: Civil War opened with $179.1 million last year. And even though the movie has yet to come out, word is that there may also be a Guardians Of The Galaxy Christmas special. So could you be seeing Groot wrapped up in Christmas lights this holiday season? Cross your fingers and read more after the jump.

According to a Deadline report, early tracking currently has GOTG Vol. 2 opening to an estimated $150 million. That’s supposedly on the low end of the spectrum. There isn’t a cap to the spectrum, but calling the low end $150 million suggests that this movie has the potential to break The Avengers’ opening weekend number of $207 million. And with that perfect score of 100 from screen tests earlier this year, anything is possible. It’s also important to keep in mind that advanced ticket sales have been open since March 24 – that means tickets have only been on sale for three weeks.

In other news, a GOTG Christmas special is something that Director, James Gunn, has been considering very heavily. All thanks to his love of the Star Wars Christmas special he had seen growing up. Here’s what he had to say during a recent Q&A on Twitter:

Those of you old enough to remember Star Wars Christmas special know that it was a big hit back in the day. While times have changed, the idea of a Guardians Christmas special doesn’t seem totally crazy. If they are going to do it, though, hopefully they’ll find a way to involve the entire MCU. How fun would that be? Captain America and Iron Man making small box cameos? Considering that Peter Quill is the only member of the team from Earth, it may just be a lot of him remembering the holiday with his old family and experiening it with his new one.

At this point, nothing has been confirmed, but if this movie does end up breaking records, then you can expect more than just a Christmas special.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5.
