Today’s been a pretty interesting day for Marvel Television. Earlier today, we got our first teaser for the Netflix “street shows” big crossover, The Defenders showcasing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist as they team up to save New York. Well, it looks like that was just the tip of the iceberg as Marvel’s other upcoming streaming service show debuted a teaser as well.
The Runaways, a rag-tag group of teens, who after finding out that their parents are supervillains, well, they run away. Determined to take down their evil parents, the wayward youths team up using their own inherited gifts against their devious parents. The comic property was first in development to be a feature length film under Marvel Studios, but they passed on it to focus on The Avengers. Marvel Television was more than happy to pick it up. Partnering with Hulu, Marvel’s Runaways was ordered to series. At today’s Upfront presentation by Hulu, members of the press got a first look at the new series. One such reporter couldn’t help themselves and recorded the footage for all to see.
The footage gives us brief glimpses of each of the runaways (presumably shot from the pilot) as they not only discover that their parents are a part of “The Pride” and carryout out their ritualistic sacrifices, but also some of them as they use their newly discovered abilities.
With the secret out, Marvel has released their official logo as well as their new Twitter account for the series.
