If there was a union fellow Nerds could appreciate, it would be one that includes the likes of Steve Jackson Games’ Munchkin series and the ever-offensive and sarcastic, Rick & Morty. Now, thanks to USAopoly, that union is finally happening and we are definitely ready to get schwifty with it! Steve Jackson Games confirmed the set was being produced back in February, but we finally got some details on what to expect and even more importantly, when to expect it so set your portal guns to the Munchkin Universe, because that’s where Rick and Morty are finally heading!

For those Nerds reading this who aren’t familiar with Munchkin, that should be rectified as soon as possible… the same goes for Rick & Morty. Even so, we should mention that Munchkin is a 3+ player card game that pokes fun at nerd culture, Dungeons & Dragons, and just about everything else that would interest someone reading this article. They have done various sets for the game to include Zombies, Pirates, and more so adding a license like Rick & Morty seems like a no-brainer. Here’s the official synopsis of the game from USAopoly:

Munchkin: Rick And Morty fuses the classic card game fun of monster-slaying and role-playing with cyborgs, aliens, and demons from the popular television series, Rick And Morty. Play as Rick, Morty, Beth, Jerry, Summer, or Mr. Poopybutthole to defeat the greatest adversaries in the Rick and Morty universe and become the hero as you reach Level 10 for the win.

The set will include 168 cards, 6 role cards, 6 plastic level trackers, and one custom die along with the standard directions. There haven’t been many games related to Rick & Morty so far with only one card game and a few variably successful video games. Their recent foray into Virtual Reality seems an ambitious push, but the market is too small to gain too much momentum at the moment. With this release, we should see more fans brought over to the dark side, which can only be a good thing for fans of the show.

Sadly, the release date is not listed on the USAopoly website and only lists the set as “Coming Soon!” Whenever it is released (Most likely sometime this year), it is expected to retail for $24.95 and will be marketed for players 17 or older.
