Any given day you can find some sort of argument online between DC and Marvel fanboys. The constant “Marvel vs DC” debate has been ongoing since before most of us were born, since Marvel and DC were young comic book publishers. Now that there are cinematic universes surrounding DC and Marvel characters, the endless debates have continued to a new medium. Now, of course, we don’t have to pick a side. As comic fans, it’s perfectly OK to like both equally. In fact, many actors/producers/directors in both universes often offer praise to each other for the success of their films and many endlessly gave DC their props for Wonder Woman. Now, the heads of the Marvel and DC cinematic Universes joined together in praise of someone else.
Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios and Geoff Johns from DC joined countless other celebrities (including the casts of Lethal Weapon and The Goonies) joined together to pay tribute to director Richard Donner. Donner, most famous for directing the first Superman movie back in 1978 also directed Lethal Weapon, The Toy, The Goonies, Scrooged and countless other films. Both Feige and Johns got their Hollywood careers started as interns working for Donner. Feige commented how the first Superman movie not only influenced him, but the comic book genre as a whole.
“Superman the movie is still, to this day, the archetype of the perfect superhero film origin story. I hope you don’t bemoan the fact that that film has inspired all of these movies.”
Below is a video of the two as they pay tribute to Donner.
