For those fans who bothered to stick around for the post-credit scenes from 2015’s Ant-Man, it should come as no surprise that Evangeline Lilly’s character from the first film, Hope Van Dyne, will be strapping on the wings and taking on the mantle of the Wasp in the film’s upcoming sequel. Of course, since the sequel is titled And-Man and The Wasp, you probably already knew that anyway even if you rushed to the bathroom at the film’s ending instead of sticking around. Even though we got to see a costume on the wall in that scene, a final approved look had yet to be revealed… until today!

Thanks to a Tweet by Andy Park, the artist responsible for the concept art and design, the Internet was blessed with the following painting of Lilly’s The Wasp:

While this is a painting of the character and not a photograph (That should come sometime this summer when production begins), it does provide some beautiful concept art and we can’t wait to see her in action on the big screen.

There was some talk of letting Lilly fly in Captain America: Civil War, but given the need for a proper introduction, the producers felt it best to leave her on the sidelines until she could make a more impactful debut in the Ant-Man sequel.

Filming for Ant-Man and The Wasp is scheduled to begin later this summer with plans to release the film next year. More details should emerge from the D23 Expo, which is taking place in Anaheim, California this weekend.

This shot from the first film shows the beginnings of the costume, which have adapted to include a fully-sleeved shirt and a similar design of the helmet as well as the lines and color scheme of the original. Lilly posted the following Tweet in May after doing a fitting for the suit, but it seems there were some additional design changes. Also, it’s worth noting that this artwork may not have been related to the production of the film:

Ant-Man and The Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6th, 2018. The film is being directed by Peyton Reed and will star Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Michael Douglas.
