There are a couple of things you can expect when you see a Marvel movie: big, colourful heroes, and a cameo appearance by Stan “The Man” Lee. The man behind much of the Marvel comic book universe has only missed a handful of Marvel movies (both in the Cinematic Universe and outside of it) in terms of a cameo, so it would straight up weird if there was no room for Lee in the ultimate chapter of the MCU. Fortunately, Lee has recently been seen on set with the cast of Avengers: Infinity War, and thanks to one of the Avengers, there’s photographic evidence of the visit.

So that’s Stan Lee surrounded by the film crew plus Downey, Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch. It must truly be surreal for Lee to be on a movie set and hanging out with Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange together in one place, at one time, but it also must be kind of surreal for him to see his creations come to alive in such a vivid way before his very eyes. That appears to be a thought that just occurred to him in the picture.
It’s worth noting here that it’s an open question as to whether or not Lee was just visiting or if he was shooting a cameo for the film. When last we heard, Lee had shot a number of cameos with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn at one time, which were to be inserted into various Marvel movies going forward, but it’s possible that Infinity War, which will mark 10 years of the MCU, is a special occasion that requires a special Lee cameo. I guess we’ll see…
Stan Lee can presently be seen in theatres everywhere in both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018.
