There were a lot of people looking forward to the goodies that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment were bringing to San Diego Comic Con in the form of news clips, trailers and announcements, but a cloud was cast over the festivities, and it was one the Bat-signal almost couldn’t break through. News reports yesterday indicated that Ben Affleck might be hanging up his cape and cowl at the end of Justice League after three appearances as the Dark Knight. It’s a good thing then that Affleck was on hand at Comic Con to refute this latest rumour mongering.
While on stage in Hall H for the Justice League panel, Affleck said the following:
“Batman is the coolest f*cking part in any universe. I am so thrilled to do it. It is f*cking amazing. After two films, Kevin Tsujihara, Sue Kroll and Toby Emmerich have said, ‘We want you to be our Batman.’ I would be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves. It’s a great time in the DC universe, and you can see why I am so excited to play Batman.”
Well, that’s good news. Of course, Affleck was on talk shows talking about how he was still going to be directing The Batman when rumours started developing earlier this year that he was going to give up the director’s chair. He did eventually announce he was stepping away from directing the film in order to concentrate on just playing Batman to the best of his ability. Matt Reeves has since signed on as the director for the as-yet unscheduled solo Batman film.
Stay tuned, something tells us this drama is far from over….
