At the top of their at panel at SDCC 2017, Marvel Studios announced new casting additions to Ant-Man And The Wasp, the highly anticipated sequel to Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Two actors, who already have strong roots in the comic book movie world.
Marvel Studios announced that legendary actors Michelle Pfeiffer (Dangerous Minds) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix trilogy) have joined the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp!
Pfieffer will portray Janet Van Dyne, the wife of Michael Douglas’s Hank Pym and the original Wasp (the one that went missing into the Microverse that Douglas’ Ant-Man was all sad about, yeah, that one).
Fishburne will play Dr. Bill Foster, who in the comics is an assistant to both Tony Stark and Hank Pym and who eventually takes on Pym’s Giant Man abilities and becomes known as Goliath.
Pfieffer is, of course, best remembered for playing Catwoman in Tim Burton’s Batman sequel – Batman Returns. And Fishburne, for playing news paper Editor-in-Chief Perry White in Warner Bros’/DC’s Man of Steel & Batman v Superman.
What else will Ant-Man And The Wasp have in store? “Stuff you’ve never seen”. That’s literally all director Peyton Reed had to say about it.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6, 2018.
