Frank Castle’s journey to live action has been spotty at best. Sure the 2004 film staring Thomas Jane wasn’t absolutely terrible and the sorta-sequel-but-not-reboot with Ray Stevenson four years later was fun ultra-violent romp, and neither of those films featured anyone naked in a sewer, fans of the Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. and, Ross Andru created Marvel character have been waiting to see the war veteran turned crime buster get a more truthful adaption.
Then, in Netflix’s second season of Daredevil last year, the prayers of Punisher fans were answered when The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal debuted in the role. Well, their prayers were sorta answered. While Bernthal brought a lot of what was missing from the violent vigilante from his previous live action appearances, Frank Castle still wasn’t sporting the classic skull emblazoned combat gear…
Well, wait no more, with the character getting his own Netflix series soon (sometime this year,) and not only do we have the trailer which shows off Castle set to ‘collect’ but also a first look at the heavily armed anti-hero finally dressed properly.
