Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the first trailer for the 4th Avengers movie. Some expected it to drop on Black Friday and were disappointed when there was no sign of the trailer. Now that the trailer is here, people can’t stop talking about it. The trailer brings back people fans missed out on in the last movie in surprising ways and reveals what fans are calling the biggest loss from Infinity War. What could make fans sadder than losing Spider-Man? NerdBastards breaks down the trailer and gives fans not privy to comic book history some clues as to what’s going on the trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
The trailer for Avengers 4 has launched and fans couldn’t be more excited. Enigmatic and full of impending doom, Endgame prepares fans for what is sure to be an epic climax to the latest phase of the MCU. Familiar faces return in surprising ways and those left behind when Thanos snapped his fingers try to pick up the pieces of the universal cataclysm. Surviving has taken its toll on even the mightiest Avengers. While fans are hyped for Avengers: Endgame, the trailer itself is more than a little depressing – and rightfully so. Thanos has taken out half of everyone in the universe. Family, friends, enemies, no matter who was lost the survivors feel every single loss.
A quick breakdown of the trailer shows us Tony Stark adrift in space, leaving a message for Pepper Potts. It’s a somber and poignant scene, capturing the feel of aimlessly floating through nothing.
Next, we get a shot of Thanos’ armor set up like a scarecrow as Thanos himself walks through a field. Natasha, Black Widow, confirms as the scene changes to Earth that “Thanos did exactly what he said he was gonna to do. He wiped out 50% of all living creatures.” We see a (beardless) Steve Rogers crying, Bruce Banner looking at displays of Scott Lang, Shuri, and Peter Parker with red “missing” tags below their pictures.
Steve Rogers takes over as the scenes move through other heroes. “We lost. All of us.” Thor brooding in a hoodie. Nebula touching Gamora’s things.”We lost friends. We lost family. We lost a part of ourselves. This is the fight of our lives.” Natasha stands in the rain, holding an umbrella as we see as she looks at a hooded figure standing over a body. The hooded figure carries a sword, takes off his mask and reveals himself to be Clint Barton, Hawkeye. He’s Ronin! Dun dun dunnn!
“This is gonna work, Steve.” Natasha promises. “I know it is.” He replies. “‘Cause I don’t know what I’m gonna do if it doesn’t.”
The trailer ends with Scott Lang trying to get into (what can be assumed to be) the Avengers facility on a display screen. Steve asks if this is an old message. Natasha replies “That’s the front door.” Scott asks “Can you buzz me in?”
Wait. Didn’t we see him on the missing list?
Avengers: Endgame should fill us in on what Ant-Man and Hawkeye/Ronin were doing during Avengers: Infinity War. What Natasha and Steve are planning is anyone’s guess at this point.
What do you think? Did Thanos kill Scott or did something else happen to him? Could he have found a way to bring everyone back? What is Clint doing killing people with a freaking SWORD? Is the saddest loss in all of Infinity War clearly the loss of Steve Rogers‘ beard? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter!
