There’s a new and last season of this TV show starting soon. You may have heard of it. Game of Thrones. Sound familiar? Well, in case you haven’t heard of this little show with little more than a cult following, HBO has some promotional events to help with might be moderate hype. #ForTheThrone features three ways to get hyped for Season 8, and the biggest of three could get you a crown of your own. Would you quest, bleed, or create for the throne? HBO hopes so. Creating a website and posting to YouTube and Facebook, HBO and the GoT actors are giving hints at the location of hidden Iron Thrones throughout the world. And the first of six has already been found!
www.ForTheThrone.com gives you info on all three ways characters from Westeros have sacrificed for The Throne. And now you can get in on it too. “For seven seasons you’ve watched characters lie, bleed, and sacrifice for the Iron Throne. As the final season approaches, only one question remains: How far will you go?”
There’s a clock counting down the days you have to find The Iron Throne as well as a link to the 360-degree YouTube video showing its location. Does one of these spots look familiar to you? The friends in England who found the first one were given a golden crown for their effort.
HBO has partnered with the American Red Cross to promote a blood drive, even offering a link to find a Red Cross blood drive near you. How much are you willing to give for the throne?
18 official show props were reimagined by 18 artists from around the world. You can see the collection of reimagined props on the website.
There isn’t a way there could be more excitement centered around the ending of Game of Thrones, but if there was a way to do it, HBO has found it. Involving fans in the promotional events is the one surefire way to stoke the fire already burning for one of the biggest shows in history.
Fans are clamoring for every tiny tidbit they can get before the show starts. Each episode is sure to be packed to the gills, with varying runtimes.
Episode 801: 60 minutes
Episode 802: 60 minutes
Episode 803: 80 minutes
Episode 804: 80 minutes
Episode 805: 80 minutes
Episode 806: 80 minutes
That comes in at seven hours and 20 minutes. Right around the same time as season 7.
There has been a prequel series announced with very little chance of any well-known characters popping back up. That might give fans hope that storylines will be tied up and we’ll get an actual ENDING to the show. But HBO President Casey Bloys isn’t ruling our more spinoffs set in Westeros. If the spinoff does well, it’s possible to see more. If fans beg for a certain character’s return (that is, if they’re not ALL killed off!) then HBO is at least open to the idea. Whatever is guaranteed to make them money, right?
What do you think? Can you find one of the hidden Iron Thrones? Will HBO option more spinoffs? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter!
