  • Profile: At 45, Mark has newsstand bought comics older than most of the other writers at Nerdbastards in his collection. Growing up nerdy means that Mark remembers things like big floppy disks, bank accounts before ATMs, having VCR parties to record bootleg copies of Anime and BBC TV shows, and when U.S. television only had three channels and required bunny ears to get a clear picture. Years of sitting the nerd sidelines suddenly exploded when asked to write an introduction to an article on Nerdbastards. The rest they say in hushed whispers . . . is history.

Twitter has taken center stage as President Donald J. Trump started his first 100 days in office in ways Twitter has in no other presidency before. Besides Trump’s own tweets as POTUS, the Twitter backlash from the silencing of the National Parks Twitter accounts, which quickly spawned Alt-accounts that continued to tweet about Climate Change. Now we’ve stumbled onto another Twitter Alt account: Dukat, the newly elected President of the Federation of Planets. It seems that Dukat, much like Trump, can’t stop tweeting. (more…)

The latest trailer for Logan had all the bells and whistles that left Wolverine fans salivating for more. One interesting tidbit from the trailer were the X-Men comic books Logan finds in X-23’s backpack. Fans quickly figured out that those comics weren’t actual X-Men comics, but something made specifically for the movie. Now, thanks to Marvel‘s Joe Quesada, we’ve got a much closer look at the pages created for the trailer. (more…)

We now know the official title for Star Wars VIII thanks to the Star Wars Facebook page which just posted the new title, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Does this mean that Luke (Mark Hammill) is the last Jedi or will Rey (Daisy Ridley) be the last Jedi after her training? Does this mean Luke could face an untimely end, perhaps at the hands of his nephew Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)? Check out the Title design after the jump. (more…)

The 2016 Razzies have been announced and Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has collected 8 nominations and was just beat out by Zoolander 2‘s 9 nominations for the year’s worst film. Snyder, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Jesse Eisenberg all garnered individual nominations with the ladies of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Amy Adams and Gal Gadot, being the only ones from the film that came away without a nomination. Holy Hellicarrier! It looks like Captain America and Nick Fury will face off over Super Bowl LI. Super-Falcons-Fan Samuel L. Jackson popped champagne last night when the Falcons won the NFC Championship game in a decisive 44 to 21 victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. That means Fury vs Psylocke (Olivia Munn) leads us to Captain America (Chris Evans) vs Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in Super Bowl LI. Check out the tweets below. (more…)

Yesterday Guillermo Del Torro tweeted out a challenge to Hellboy fans, did they wanted to see Hellboy IIIand could they get over 100K votes in 24 hours. If both happened, then Del Torro promised to have sit-down meetings with the Ron Perlman (Hellboy actor) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy creator) about Hellboy III. As one would expect, fans picked up that challenge and ran with it easily making the 24-hour deadline. Here’s how it played out on Twitter last night. (more…)

Fans will have to wait longer for CBS‘s return to Star Trek on the small screen. Star Trek: Discovery won’t make the scheduled May premiere date. Reasons for the delay are not detailed, just the usual “What’s best for the series” vagueness. Star Trek: Discovery did cast an interesting and long time Star Trek character, Spock’s father Sarek. While Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds didn’t pick up wins at the Golden Globes, the nominations started some serious conversations about where superhero movies, truly excellent superhero movies (Think Dark Knight/Deadpool) belong when it comes to Hollywood awards. The Golden Globe nominations also kicked up discussions about possible Oscar nominations that began as humorous promoting and morphed into something much more serious. Reynolds is now promising a ” f—ing crazy reaction video” if Deadpool gets the Oscar Nom. (more…)
