  • Profile: At 45, Mark has newsstand bought comics older than most of the other writers at Nerdbastards in his collection. Growing up nerdy means that Mark remembers things like big floppy disks, bank accounts before ATMs, having VCR parties to record bootleg copies of Anime and BBC TV shows, and when U.S. television only had three channels and required bunny ears to get a clear picture. Years of sitting the nerd sidelines suddenly exploded when asked to write an introduction to an article on Nerdbastards. The rest they say in hushed whispers . . . is history.

Now not all clowns are creepy, but unless you’re Bozo or Ronald McDonald the scale tends to lean towards creepy. This new trailer for Stephen King‘s IT certainly isn’t helping as it takes the creepy clown to the next level, the truly horrifying level of Pennywise. Word around the Internet cooler this morning is that Jared Leto is in talks with Sony to take on the lead character role of Bloodshot based on the Valiant Entertainment comic created by Kevin Vanhook and Yvel Guichet in 1992. This is part of an overall five picture deal that includes other Valiant titles which would conclude with a hero combining final film Harbinger Wars. The magic of Hollywood will turn its malicious eye towards that magnificent Mission: Impossible 6 mustache of Henry Cavill‘s and remove it digitally from the Justice League rehoots that Joss Whedon is currently working on. This was scheduled to be a none lip hair issue as Cavill had already shot all his Justice League scenes and moved on to Mission: Impossible 6, but the rehoots now have Cavill bouncing between productions to get the new shots in. John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood) had to have his appendix removed last night and decided to live Facebook Video the experience for his fans. Most likely it was more to calm any fan worries and provide him with some fun antics to chew up the wait, that and all those wonderful drugs the doctors pumped him up with before the surgery. Star Trek: Discovery‘s Sonequa Martin-Green tweeted out a surprise family connection with the original Star Trek‘s Spock today that certainly seems to come out of left field. It turns out that Commander Michael Burnham played by Martin-Green is the half-sister of our favorite Vulcan science officer.
