Seemingly straight out of Orgrimmar, actress Jamie Lee Curtis arrived in Orc cosplay to last night’s premiere of Duncan Jones‘ fantasy flick Warcraft! Curtis schmoozed with cast members and fans of the film alike, posing for pictures and recording videos- including a pretty impressive nod to “Leroooooy Jenkins!” Her look came off a little more Malificent than Orc, maybe a brow piece or some big bottom teeth pieces would’ve been a bit more accurate. But this fangirl is no stranger to cosplay fun! (more…)

Jesse Eisenberg‘s portrayal of Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice left a lot of fans disappointed. Words like “mis-cast”, “overdone” and “long-haired evil hipster” were thrown around, creating an uncertainty on whether or not Eisenberg would return to the role for Justice League. The actor himself didn’t even seem to have the answer; not even at the beginning stages of production for the DC heroes. It seems that the fog surrounding the matter has cleared, though, as Eisenberg enlightened us with some info this weekend at MCM London Comic-Con. (more…)

After the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise got a reboot in 2014, a line in the sand was quickly drawn. On one side were fans that embraced the new style and direction that the property was going in under the direction of Michael Bay, and the other side was just too uncomfortable with how far it strayed from the original 80’s comic. With the reboot’s sequel nearing its theatrical release next Friday, a pretty smart move was made at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows premiere. In a clever throwback to the OG versions of the heroes in a half-shell, 90’s rapper Vanilla Ice and the vintage Jim Henson Creature Shop-looking ninja brothers stormed the stage. (more…)

the-dark-tower

It’s really happening, you guys. The adaptation of Stephen King’s epic Dark Tower series into (hopefully) just as epic films has begun. Filming is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa presently; with Nikolaj Arcel directing a talent-ridden cast including Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road). King is adamant on forewarning fans not to expect a direct adaptation of the books, however, because that’s not what they’re going to get. Anthony Breznican (from Entertainment Weekly) recently interviewed King and Arcel on his Sirius XM show, Behind the Scenes with Anthony Breznican, and here’s some excerpts of what the duo had to say about the highly anticipated first film. Fans of ABC’s Marvel series Agent Carter are not happy with the network’s decision to not pursue a third season for the show.  One fan went as far as to launch a petition with the aim of getting Agent Carter picked up as a Netflix series.  The petition was only launched a few days ago, but already has over 50,000 signatures under its belt.  Over on Twitter, Bridget Regan (who plays Dottie Underwood on Agent Carter), and G. Willow Wilson (who currently writes Ms. Marvel for Marvel Comics) have seen the petition, and both ladies gave it a re-tweet! (more…)

Epic Rap Battles has done it again: pitted two icons against each other in a lyrical throw down that we never knew we wanted to see until we did.  This time around, the contestants were George R.R. Martin, the author of the Game of Thrones books, versus J.R.R Tolkien, the author of the Lord of the Rings works.  The “audience” deems the winner via YouTube votes, so watch the battle unfold and get to commenting who you think dropped the mic harder! the-happytime-murders-concept-art_0

The Happytime Murders somehow seems to be simultaneously something you could totally see coming from The Jim Henson Co. (ex: “Happytime”), and something you never thought the puppeteer gang would produce (ex: “Murders”). And yet here we are with news of its development! Directed by Brian Henson (son of the late and great Jim Henson) and Erich & Jon Hoeber (Red, Red 2), from a script by Todd Berger & Dee Robertson, this project has actually been in the works for a number of years now. The film would be bringing a whole new side of comedy to light; featuring an R rating, some live-action, and brand new Muppet characters. It might be the newest name potentially signing on to the project that will really get things rolling, though: Jamie Foxx. (more…)

The Ghostbusters movie isn’t the only thing getting a reboot this summer. Starting May 30th, Hi-C Ecto Cooler, the fan favorite drink inspired by 1987’s Real Ghostbusters cartoon will be back on supermarket shelves! Ecto Cooler was discontinued in 2001, but back in November the Coca-Cola company refiled the trademark. And to certify Ecto’s re-entrance into our world, an official tweet was produced. (more…)

Scarlett-Johansson-Ghost-in-the-Shell

Scarlett Johansson has been cast as Major Motoko Kusanagi, the main character in the Japanese anime hit Ghost in the Shell that Paramount/DreamWorks is adapting into a feature film. The issue here is that, along with Johansson’s character,  all but one other main characters, who are Asian in the source material, are being portrayed by white actors. Japanese actor Beat Takeshi Kitano is the lone exception. What’s probably most surprising about the backlash this decision has received is that most of the negative comments are coming from the Western world; many Japanese had already assumed that the role would go to a white actress. Now we get to hear what Sam Yoshiba had to say about the controversial casting choice. He’s the director of the international business division at Kodnasha: the company that publishes the Ghost in Shell manga in Japan. (more…)

Untitled-1

A lot of hearsay has been going around concerning who will be joining Spider-Man star Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming. This particular reboot is unique in the fact that it will be merging with the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and also because this is the youngest version of Spidey we’ve seen to date. After we catch him in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, the next place we’re likely to spot him are the halls of his high school. Now the question is, who will be joining him? (more…)
