We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Every Wednesday and Saturday (mid week/end of week) we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. The absolute best thing about the new Star Wars trailer was to feel again the monstrous love and connection everyone has with Star Wars. That emotional connectivity is more than palpable – it’s transcendent.

It would be a shame if someone went and ruined all of that now wouldn’t it? Youtube user murdockmotion is a terrible human being in the most amusing of ways. This evil genius went full retard and recut the trailer adding everyone’s not so favorite Gungan Jar Jar Binks to it. Titled Star Wars: The Binks Awakens. Yep, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds. NickJoker

He looks like a drugged punk rocker. He’s not how I envision the character. He’s not Heath Ledger.

That’s what a whole lot of people have been saying about Jared Leto’s reveal as a tattooed, “grilled” Joker. It was a photo that has launched 1000 memes. Man,  the ire that has arisen in this nation we call Nerds has brought out the funniest and very worst of our culture.

While negative reactions are slowing to a crawl, there is ONE reactionary video to rule them all.

Before there was Jared Leto, there was Heath Ledger. Before Ledger, there was Jack Nicholson. In 1989 he danced with the devil under the pale moonlight in Tim Burton’s Batman. For near two decades he was remembered as the definitive onscreen Joker. It’s only befitting to see what the legend himself thinks of Leto’s Joker.

*Note: Just so no one feels duped, the following reactionary video is an edited clip from Nicholson’s starring vehicle About Schmidt. So, yes, it’s fake (so is the above image, which is clearly Photoshopped). Doesn’t change how perfect the reaction is. (more…)

If you’ve ever wondered how the real Deadpool would match up with the Deadpool we never speak of from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then today is your lucky day. (more…)

Didn’t think the day could get any better after the new Star Wars trailer… Boy were you wrong.

You may be familiar with Kung Fury, an upcoming crowd-funded martial arts comedy that’s the brain child of director David Sandberg. The film, featuring an absolutely balls-to-the-wall trailer released last year, is currently aiming for a may release.

Today, they released the music video. With David Hasslehoff. Yes. It’s that amazing. (more…)
