1968 was a seminal year in American history.

That was the year of the Battle of Khe Sanh and the Tet offensive in Vietnam.  It was the year that saw Laugh In premier on TV, the Beatles formed Apple Records, and the Pope came out against birth control.  Both Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. were assassinated.  It was also the year that two seminal science fiction films came out, Planet of the Apes and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Not only did they come out the same year…they premiered on the same day, April 3rd. (more…)

Sometimes it’s hard to speak as a man. However, just because I am not “a part” of an affected group doesn’t mean I don’t have empathy.

In the wake of ousted sexual predator and now former powerful producer Harvey Weinstein, comes hordes of women sharing the two heaviest little words in history – #MeToo.

A rally cry started by Alyssa Milano (Who’s The Boss? She da boss!) to encourage woman to speak up and speak out – a showing of solidarity for all those who have been sexual assaulted in their lives. As of this posting that hashtag has gone viral with an astounding 12M Facebook posts and counting.  (more…)

Rick and Morty Justin Roiland prank calls Joel Osteen megachurch

well, that is if you were expecting extreme awkwardness and… ok, it is really awkward.

So, without going to far into it, there is this thing called a MEGACHURCH and sadly it’s not a lame transformer, no it is a place run by a douche man named Joel Osteen that is currently under a flood of vinegar bad press for refusing to open his church to victims of Hurricane Harvey. So, the creator and star of TV’s Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, used his guest spot on the H3H3productions podcast to prank the churches prayer line (in a voice not dissimilar from the booze fueled vitriol filled Rick Sanchez from the aforementioned cartoon.)

The result? Pure unrefined gold, and awkwardness. (more…)

Ric Flair, The Nature Boy and Wrestling Legend and Hall of Famer was hospitalized over the weekend with heart-related issues. The first reports were that this was just routine monitoring with Flair’s long time manager announcing there was no need to panic. However, this morning those reports took a much more serious tone as TMZ reported that Flair was placed in a medically induced coma to undergo a surgical procedure. (more…)

Star Wars 300 Jedi Slaughter 60,000 Medieval Soldiers

The long honored tradition of debating one thing vs another is always fun, right? Pepsi vs Coke, Marvel vs DC, tacos vs pizza; and the true fun is in the fact that the conversation is eternal, there are no finite true winners (editors note: Coke, DC Comics and tacos.)

John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood) had to have his appendix removed last night and decided to live Facebook Video the experience for his fans. Most likely it was more to calm any fan worries and provide him with some fun antics to chew up the wait, that and all those wonderful drugs the doctors pumped him up with before the surgery. Every year, fans come in droves to San Diego Comic Con. Among those fans, there are those who brave the heat and wear elaborate costumes to show their support for their favorite characters. Extensive research, planning, and construction can go into these labors of love. Other times, it’s just cardboard and paint.
