Things seemingly weren’t looking good for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie. First there was the fallout of Batman v Superman which was panned by critics and rocked Affleck pretty hard – #SadAffleck. Then there was the uncertainty with the script, which Affleck had repeatedly said variations of “it’s ready when it’s ready” and “I won’t do it unless it’s perfect”. With the culminating pressure of starring in, writing, and directing one of the biggest comic book licenses of all time, Affleck had made the shocking announcement that he will no longer be directing The Batman. Some fans, of course, went into a tale spin over this, thinking the project was dead, that Affleck is done with Batman, and that he’s keeping his apathy silenced until Justice League rolls out.
Well, weary not Batfleck fans. The Batman is still on. The script is good. Affleck will once again don those Bat tights. And as word would have it, a replacement director has just been solidified. (more…)

Instagram. In the mix of food porn and other things people like to document that don’t matter, there was/is Neil Blomkamp‘s Instagram Account. The District 9 director has famously used it as a dumping ground for his concept art for a proposed Alien sequel. His designs depicted his vision for the happenings to Sigourney Weaver‘s Ripley and Michael Biehn‘s Hicks post the events in Aliens – one piece of art even featured Riply wearing some sort of Xenomorph suit (pictured above). Supposedly, FOX has was very keen on bringing Blomkamp’s newly proposed Alien sequel to celluloid.
So what’s the status? Is Sigourney Weaver ‘s Ripley going to get a proper ending? Well, it’s not looking good. (more…)
NBC has not had a good track record when it’s come to super hero shows. Remember the wasted opportunity that was Heroes? Or how about The Cape, which was the exact type of show the superhero genre didn’t need. Then, when they did eventually get a superhero show right, and manage to create a fanbase with something like Constantine… they went and cancelled it. Tsk…tsk. Whoever at NBC is in charge of making creative decisions (we can only assume it’s a Dr. Claw type character sitting in an overly sized chair stroking a cat) clearly doesn’t know a thing about the comic book / superhero genre. But to their credit, their aiming for a change-un’.
Coming in February, NBC will premier Powerless, the first situation comedy series set around the DC Universe. Moving on from there, NBC is jumping from one comic-verse to another. From DC to Top Cow Comics, with a reboot of Witchblade, the comic-book series that already inspired a short-lived TNT drama. (more…)
The circus has been with us for more than 100 years. The spectacle of clowns, elephants, trapeze artists and other exotic animals was something that many have seen at least once in our lifetimes. The biggest circus troupe is Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus which was billed as “The Greatest Show On Earth” for what seems like forever. That circus has been performing for more than 98 years (since 1919) across the country first as a traveling circus and then as it gained in popularity, sold out stadiums across the country. Sadly to say, the show will not go on.
Just when Ben thought he was out, Maul drags him back in. Seriously, didn’t he cut that dude in half? It’s hard not to be impressed how the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels writers managed to bring back Darth Maul while keeping him so fraking cool. Now it looks like we’ll have a battle no one could have imagined back in 1999 as Darth Maul comes out of the desert to face his most hated enemy. (more…)
