Meet the Bastards

  • Luke Gallagher

    avatar

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Nerd Bastards.com, Luke Gallagher - the love child of Michael Chikilis and Mr. Clean - can be found in Boston, Massachusetts, where he hopes to find continued inspiration and resonance in life through diversified, ambiguous, ambitions. He also wishes to have intimate relations with Christina Hendricks (a man can dream). He has been a professional wrestler, student of Jiu Jitsu, attempted body builder, aspiring actor and hot wings competitor. While genetically programmed to live life as a jock, he couldn't (mentally) be more opposite. His impressive action figure/collectible, comic book and DVD/Bluray collections, along with his love for cupcakes stimulate his nerd riddled thirst. "I am here to chew bubblegum and write stupid shit. And I'm all out of bubblegum." - Luke Gallagher Follow Luke on Twitter @NerdBastards View Stories

  • Mark Poynter

    avatar

At 45, Mark has newsstand bought comics older than most of the other writers at Nerdbastards in his collection. Growing up nerdy means that Mark remembers things like big floppy disks, bank accounts before ATMs, having VCR parties to record bootleg copies of Anime and BBC TV shows, and when U.S. television only had three channels and required bunny ears to get a clear picture. Years of sitting the nerd sidelines suddenly exploded when asked to write an introduction to an article on Nerdbastards. The rest they say in hushed whispers . . . is history. View Stories

Jason is perhaps best known to everyone as “that one guy who did that thing,” but few people know of his struggles in life. • James Rouse Iñiguez

    avatar

Researcher. Musician. DJ. Performance artist. Snacktivist. Vice-Princess of Candyland. James Rouse Iñiguez may seem like your run of the mill hyphenate, but what makes him standout in a sea of Internet weirdos? An obvious and unhealthy obsession with Joss Whedon, duh! James has a bachelors degree in Film Theory and a Master’s Degree in Sexuality Studies, which means he’s very qualified to talk about really academic things like Cersei and Jamie’s relationship, or why Charmander has to burn things just to feel. A native San Franciscan, James plans to never leave the bubble because the real world is scary. You can follow his coffee infused shade-bombs on Twitter, @jimmyswear View Stories

  • Jake Johnston

    avatar

Jake Johnston's parents bought him his first comic book in 1977 and he's never looked back. A childhood rife with comics and plenty of nerd culture lead to a love of art. After slinging paint for four years at the Kansas City Art Institute, he was lucky enough to manage the Tivoli art house movie theater for seven years. Jake moved to Massachusetts in 2001 and held several character-building jobs, including dog walker, custom picture framer, and stationery salesman. Eventually, he fulfilled his destiny and opened The Hall of Comics with two incredible partners. A dedicated vegan and animal rights supporter, he now lives with his equally talented wife, a healthy collection of comics, and hundreds of little plastic people in Milford, MA. View Stories

  • Nick DeLong

    avatar

A level 30 professional nerd, Nick spends most of his days saving the world one software inspection at a time. When not fulfilling his role and New Brunswick's most appallingly decent bug detector, Nick can be found hyperventilating about his favorite games, browsing the comic racks for something that'll give him some more hipster cred, watching stupid TV shows, listening to obnoxiously old music, or hanging out with his family. For some rantings and ravings about the game industry and other almost interesting things, follow him on twitter @MGNickD View Stories

  • William Monteith

    avatar

In the halls of derelict schools across the mid-south, he was mocked and beaten mercilessly. Shoved into lockers, made fun of for his weight, and picked on for his odd fashion choices, William Monteith had no choice but to accept who he truly was: a nerd. Don't let his doughy exterior fool you, dear friends, for inside beats the heart of a mighty warrior. He rises every morning at the same heroic time, 2:45 pm, he dons the same heroic gear, a Batman hoodie and cargo shorts, and he sips his heroic coffee while heroically writing about things very few people care about. And he does it for you, dear reader. All for you. When he isn't battling demons in Painkiller or rival gangs in Saints Row, he's usually drawing and coming up with tattoo designs he is far too scared to actually have placed on his body and cheering on men in spandex battling for dominance. He may not be the writer you deserve, but, damn it, he's the one you need. View Stories

Along with writing for Nerd Bastards, Nicole is an artist under the name “Feral Doe”, and you can check out her work by following her on Twitter and/or Instagram, both under the name @feraldoe.
