Meet the Bastards

  • Luke Gallagher

    avatar
Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Nerd Bastards.com, Luke Gallagher - the love child of Michael Chikilis and Mr. Clean - can be found in Boston, Massachusetts, where he hopes to find continued inspiration and resonance in life through diversified, ambiguous, ambitions. He also wishes to have intimate relations with Christina Hendricks (a man can dream). He has been a professional wrestler, student of Jiu Jitsu, attempted body builder, aspiring actor and hot wings competitor. While genetically programmed to live life as a jock, he couldn't (mentally) be more opposite. His impressive action figure/collectible, comic book and DVD/Bluray collections, along with his love for cupcakes stimulate his nerd riddled thirst. Follow Luke on Twitter @NerdBastards View Stories
  • Mark Poynter

    avatar
At 45, Mark has newsstand bought comics older than most of the other writers at Nerdbastards in his collection. Growing up nerdy means that Mark remembers things like big floppy disks, bank accounts before ATMs, having VCR parties to record bootleg copies of Anime and BBC TV shows, and U.S. television with three channels and bunny ears. Years of sitting the nerd sidelines and Monday morning quarterbacking suddenly exploded when asked to write an introduction to an article on Nerdbastards. The rest they say in hushed whispers . . . is history. View Stories
  • Sarah Moran

    avatar
Sarah is a disillusioned college grad who after earning a B.A. in Film Snobbery, took to the interwebz in order to share her passion for all things nerdy. She loves superheroes, science fiction, fairy tales, bike riding, cartoons, cats, and sunny skies. Writing came to her as a way of release for all the stuff in her head as often Sarah finds herself with more useless knowledge than brain to contain it. You can follow her continual dispelling of nonsense on Twitter, @SarahThisIs. View Stories
  • Matthew Jackson

    avatar
Matthew Jackson is a writer, editor, blogger, critic, Batman worshipper, renegade Jedi, post-apocalyptic gunslinger, cyber shaman, imaginary sorcerer, mind harvester, sex god and general heathen. He was probably going to be all right until someone explained to him what a lightsaber was and he went off the deep end in about 1988. His interests include time travel, comics, obscure pulp literature, black t-shirts, Vincent Price impressions, cursing, jokes about Jesus, Warren Ellis’ glorious beard, nefarious plots, swords, Nazi occultism, bacon, really good Scotch and intergalactic bounty hunting. No, but seriously, he really is a professional writer with credentials and everything. You can read more of his film and book reviews at his private blog, A Walrus Darkly (awalrusdarkly.blogspot.com). He lives in Texas with a wonderful woman who puts up with a lot. View Stories

  • Jason Tabrys

Jason is still trying to rebuild his belief in humanity after the box office failure of Scott Pilgrim and he prays nightly to his dear and fluffy lord that his metachlorian rate will rise and allow him to become the bad-ass Jedi that he was born to be. Jason is the former editor of WeLoveCult.com and a contributor to VeryAware.com, ScreenInvasion.com, and us. He prefers that you love him from afar. View Stories
  • Jason McAnelly

    avatar
Jason is perhaps best known to everyone as “that one guy who did that thing,” but few people know of his struggles in life. After making a name for himself training zombies to make pasta, he wandered the earth in search of the sacred cheese. Though the cheese eluded him, he discovered a talent for writing and has been working on perfecting his skills ever since. He is currently working on a fantasy novel and tapping keys for the folks at NerdBastards. Eventually, he will be rich and famous and way cooler than you. View Stories

  • Brent Cook

    avatar
"Brent has never aimed to be "nerdy"; it just so happened that the things that earned his affection fell under that category. A child of video games, superheroes, and really anything "strange," Brent has found a way to express his love for these things through writing. As an aspiring writer, he's learned to embrace these things that other people may look at as "odd" or "childish," and instead, emphasize the unique facets of his passions. View Stories
  • Jacob Knight

    avatar
Jacob truly believes he was born roughly two decades too late. In a past life, he was a 42nd Street projectionist, unspooling reels of sleaze for bums, prostitutes and an assortment of NYC scumbags. Unfortunately, being reborn as a Millennial in this Disneyland we call America doesn't afford him the same opportunities to revel in such filth, so he must settle for his post at Austin, Texas' Vulcan Video, where he helps keep one of the last great Meccas of film-fandom alive. In-between shifts, he has won several screenwriting awards, published two novels and authored countless film reviews and editorials at several places around the web, including Creative Screenwriting, VeryAware.com, Cinapse.co, ScreenInvasion.com and his own site, JacobKnight.me. Husband to a loving wife and father to two furry, four-legged children, he fears few and respects even less. You can find him on Twitter at @JacobQKnight. View Stories

  • Aspry Jones

After getting rich working in television for 20 years, Aspry, or “Spri” as everyone calls him, lost all his wealth to an Armenian princess in 2013. Deciding that “Two decades in New York City is enough for anyone,” he packed up and moved south where he spends his time writing Yelp reviews and playing “Avengers Alliance” online. He's a coffee snob, can take a shotgun blast standing, and once saved a man from being trampled by a horse and carriage.
