Quicksilver – Did He Or Didn’t He?

Quicksilver

Before we even start, be warned, spoilers for Avengers: Age of Ultron are ahead. You probably knew that, considering the title, but if you are among the dozen or so people on the planet who has not yet seen the movie and want to avoid spoilers, now is the time to leave.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. AgeofUltron

Even this age of consistent big event movies, it’s hard to think of anything as big as Avengers: Age of Ultron. The first blockbuster Avengers was a minor miracle of form and function, taking three characters with their own film series, as well as a myriad of supporting characters, and brought them all together in a fun, action-packed and character-driven adventure that also reflected the specific voice of its filmmaker. Looking back, watching The Avengers unfold, Joss Whedon made it look too easy, which is why Ultron seems all the more susceptible to “sequelitis.” Age of Ultron is bigger, louder and even more stuffed with characters, references and action than the first, but while the endeavor seems at times to be getting away from Whedon, he does seem to achieve everything the movie needed, and wanted to do. Age-of-Ultron-Twins

As we countdown to the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which, in North America, is now barely 40 days away, every new look we get at the film is a banquet for the eyes, and a fest for the senses. We can’t wait! A new mini trailer came out today via the film’s Twitter account, and it offered us several never before seen glimpses at the movie, but something stood out. You may have noted before that while we’ve seen a lot of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch respectively, we haven’t, as of yet, heard them talk. Well, that’s all about to change once you see this new trailer, and we’ll tell you right now, if you like silly Eastern European accents, you’re about be over the moon. (more…)

Oh my! What the…?! Oh boy. That in a nutshell is the new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron. One of the most anticipated movies of the year gets even more anticipated with each passing trailer, this latest one being the third we’ve seen so far. If memory serves, this was supposed to premiere sometime during Thursday’s airing of the new ABC series American Crime (Yay, corporate synergy!), but like all things concerning The Avengers, the awesomeness of the new footage was too tremendous to contained by a silly thing like “official release dates.” So what can be expected as soon as you press play on the below video? Why ruin the surprise? (more…)

QuicksilverScarletWitch1_0

Marvel recently released a new digital comic, Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude – This Scepter’d Isle (Say that five times fast), that lays it all out for anyone speculating about how Marvel will handle Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch’s (Elizabeth Olsen) origins when translating them from the comics to the big screen in Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Gotta warn you, there be spoilers ahead and if you want to stay blissfully unaware… don’t click-through. If you do, it’s all on you. (more…)

godzilla

With the pending home video release of Gareth Edwards‘ 2014 reboot of Godzilla coming to a retailer near you in another week, we pause to do some navel gazing at all the things that he did wrong in the film. YEAH! Take that Edwards. You may be still growing as a filmmaker, and Godzilla was only your second movie, but since you didn’t make the Godzilla movie we all had playing in our heads we’re going to tear you a new one! Ahem. Now that I’ve got that out of my system, let’s introduce a couple of new videos to hit the interwebs today. On the one hand we have a judicious You Tuber who edited together all the Godzilla and MOTU bits in two vids that show how little screen time they all got, and secondly, Honest Trailers has put together a – well – honest trailer for Godzilla. Those posters form a huge banner depicting the Avengers fighting Ultron’s droid army. Find out what they look like when pieced together! (more…)

Aaron-Johnson-and-Elisabeth-Olsen

Two highly anticipated new heroes will be making their first appearance in the second Avengers flick, Avengers: Age of Ultron. To those that have been living in a closet for the last six months, I’m talking about Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. The brother-and-sister team promises to add some new and exciting elements to the flick, though how the actors will do in the roles remains to be seen. Now, Elizabeth Olsen – aka Scarlet Witch – and Aaron Taylor-Johnson – aka Quicksilver – sat down and talked a little bit about their roles and the new film in general. (more…)
