Just who in the world is Ben Walker and how will he fit as the Civil war’s greatest hero ? Ben has been the favorite to become the beard wearing hero of the Tim Burton directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. After screen testing along side fellow actors Benjamin Walker, James D’Arcy, Adrien Brody, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Josh Lucas to decide who would fit the role of the president. It can now be confirmed that Walker will take on the lead as Abraham, kicking ass by day and staking Vampires by night.
Freer of slaves, manliest of men, Vampire hunter?
Benjamin could have been in the upcoming X-Men: First Class as Hank McCoy, but dropped out to play Andrew Jackson in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Most people would have called him nuts for it, going from being part of a multi-million dollar film only to drop out and go work on the stage. It ended up paying off for Ben in the long run, as his acclaimed role in the Broadway production may have guaranteed his role as the 16th president of the United States. The man goes from Broadway actor to 3D film star, that’s gonna give him way more tang then he would have gotten on a stage, how badass is that.
The Grahame-Smith novel re-imagines Lincoln as an axe-throwing, skilled killer with an obsession for vampire destruction. After the death of his mother at the hands of vampires Lincoln dedicates his life long wrath to the end vampires race and the slave-owners that protect them. Who knew history could be this fun, taking what we all know and throwing blood and wooden stakes all over it.
Here’s what we could be seeing:
Yeah we know, that’s the book trailer. Just think of seeing all that but with better effects and Ben with the signature beard. It’s gonna be awesome.
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is set for a June 22, 2012 release. In a regular and 3D version everywhere.
Did you know a Fantastic Four reboot is in the works? Ha!, who am I kidding, of course you did. Comic-book movie news like that would never slip by your radar. The real question is do any of you give a shit? I think it’s fair to say the nerd consensus goes something like this: “But FOX has already tried to make a good F4 movie…and failed….twice. FOX, you’ve tried your best and failed miserably. Lesson is: Never Try”. But, you know Hollywood. If you at first you don’t succeed try one or all of the 3 Rs. Reboot, Remake, Reimagine. While, we all collectively roll our eyes at the idea there is some potentially promising casting news that might tickle your fancy.
Apparently, 20th Century FOX have been pursuing Adrien Brody (Predators) and Amber Heard (Zombieland) as replacements for the parts of Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, characters who were previously portrayed by Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba, respectively. Meanwhile, Comic Book Movie tells us that Fox has been looking at Kevin Pennington (90210) to play Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch (previously played by Chris “Captain America” Evans). Oh, if you’re wondering about the THING, it’s said that FOX plans to do away with the prosthetics and have the thing be 100% CGI (No word yet on voice actor). In my opinion I don’t think anyone of these ideas are right. Especially Amber Heard. She’s way to young for the role of Sue Storm. Regardless, if anyone of these rumors are true this would certainly be a huge improvement.
As of right now all this talk is hersay. Seeing how FOX has no plans to start production on the reboot until after X-Men: First Class is completed, these casting possibilities are unlikely to happen. But at least it’s a sign that they are perhaps putting the right foot forward this time.
In an ideal world, if they had a great script, what would be your ideal casting choice for the Fantastic Four?
Here’s our picks
Guy Pierce (Memento) as Mr. fantastic. One of the universes most brilliant minds who struggles to keep balance in his work and family responsibilities. A science geek who has just enough charm and sensitivity to score a hot broad like Sue Storm. Guy Pierce as Mr. Fantastic wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.
Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) as The Invisible Woman. Having played the Cylon 6 on Battlestar Galactica Helfer has proven that a HPOA like her can bring a deep level of maturity and vulnerability. She fits the age range and has the acting chops to bring a sense character to the role. Unlike Jessica Alba who was nothing but eye candy.
Ryan Kwanten (Trueblood) as The Human Torch. On True Blood Ryan plays Jason Stakehouse. A hot head, horny dude who acts before he thinks and always gets yelled at by his wiser sister. Gee, I wonder who that describes.
Domenick Lombardozzi (The Wire) as The Thing. Authentic NYC accent and attitude, plus he definitely has the look. A natural Ben Grimm.
Not long ago it was rumored that Adrien Brody was in talks to play ANT-MAN for the upcoming Marvel ultimate superhero movie, THE AVENGERS, but that turned out to be untrue. Avengernews.com however claimed to have learned that it wasn’t ANT-MAN that Brody was after, it was DR. STRANGE.
A source of ours is telling us that Adrien Brody is very close to signing a deal with Marvel that could see him playing either Ant-Man or Dr. Strange. Now, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard his name and Ant-Man’s in the same sentence. Other sites have reported that before. What we’re being told is that we might hear an announcement about one of these characters soon. Stay tuned.
Adrien Brody as Dr. Strange? Ya, that makes sense. No, really. That’s actually a good idea. Not only does he look the part, but he’s got the chops to bring some character to a rather dull and second rate hero in the Marvel Universe.
The info on this rumor is a bit sketchy. So, will have to take it with a grain of salt. Though, we do know that Marvel hired screenwriting team Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to write DR. STRANGE. Donnelly and Oppenheimer penned the upcoming CONAN reboot and the game-based movie UNCHARTED: DRAKE’S FORTUNE which is in development and they also wrote a draft for COWBOYS & ALIENS which is currently in production. So, we do know a film is in the works. Regardless of a script being in motion it’s unlikely that an actor would be a chosen before they have a director on board.
What you you all think about Adrien Brody possibly taking on the role of Dr. Strange?
Oh, for those of you who don’t read comics here is the WIKI info on the “Sorcerer Supreme” “Stephen Strange is a world-renowned but selfish neurosurgeon, until a car accident damaged his hands, preventing him from conducting surgery. Depressed and scouring the world for a cure to his condition, Strange locates a hermit called the Ancient One in the Himalayas. After Strange selflessly attempts to thwart the Ancient One’s traitorous disciple, Baron Mordo (who would become one of Stange’s most enduring antagonists), he is taught the mystic arts.
As the Ancient One’s disciple, Strange encounters the entity Nightmare and a number of odd mystical foes, before battling his eventual arch-foe: Dormammu, a warlord from an alternate dimension called the “Dark Dimension”. Strange is also aided by a nameless girl, who is eventually revealed to be the niece of the villain and called Clea. When Strange helps a weakened Dormammu drive off the rampaging beasts the Mindless Ones and return them to their prison, he is allowed to leave unchallenged.
Doctor Strange is a master magician, and was the holder of the title of “Sorcerer Supreme” of the Marvel Universe for many years. Eternity, the sentience of the Marvel Universe, has described Strange as “more powerful by far than any of your fellow humanoids”.”

Predators finally gives justice to the original where the last two AVP films and even Predator 2 have failed. Not only is it a much more direct sequel to the first but, it is also a fully enjoyable reboot
of(in this humble reviewers opinion) the most bad ass monster that has ever been or ever will be! This movie is a tight, edge of your seat nail biter, with colorful well written characters, and guns blazingballs to the wall action. From the moment the characters fall from the sky onto this planet until the sequel enticing conclusion, you are going to see everything you ever wanted and more in a Predator movie. Period!
Finally. FINALLY there is a trailer we can respect for Nimrod Antal’s Predators, produced by Robert Rodriguez
Skinny bitch, Adrien Brody seems really gritty and cool, and with the release of his new Mathew McConaughey-esque shirtless picture, ushering the new era of Action Hero. As weird as it seems.
Also the absence of Topher Grace leaves me bewildered but at the same time, all I can think, is he has to be the evil company man responsible for dropping the ragtag group of warriors on planet Predator. OR a stranded warrior who has once beaten them, and with much respect let him live on the planet. OK! I need to stop speculating, I’m just happy that finally we have a nice action movie to be a great popcorn summer sci-fi blockbuster!
Now heres a question. How long into the movie do you think it’ll be before an Alien shows up in the film. A trophy, a rogue, a SHIT TON of them!?? I really hope they toss the AVP by the wayside….For now.
Predators stars Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Oleg Taktarov. It opens on July 9
A batch of new photos from the Robert Rodriguez-produced, Nimrod Antal-directed Predators have popped up online. These aren’t lame cast and sets pics. No. We are talking, full on, spoiler-riffic shots of the Predators, an un-expectedly buff Adrien Brody, some dude with a Katana (sweet) and much much more.
Awesome, but whatever happened to building tension and revealing the monster in the final act? I realize we all know what the Predator(s) look like, but there’s absolutely no question after all of these images.

20th Century Fox has just released a sneak peek at the upcoming “Predators” movie which premiered at SXSW on Friday. In this 2 minute promo, producer, Robert Rodriguez gives us an insides look at director, Nimród Antal’s reimagining of The Predator franchise. It’s a quick behind the scenes presentation that doesn’t give us enough of an assement on the films potential awesome-ness but does show some rather impressive looking footage. We do get glimpse of the mercenary unit lead by Adrien Brody and teases of the Predators themselves, which look potentially more freightening then ever. Except for maybe that bizarre dog like Predator, that was just dumb.
The talent involved in this movie makes me cautiously optimistic. Will it deliver? who knows but someone has to get this franchise right eventually so why not this time.
Official Plot Synopsis: Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers, mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members human “predators” that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.
Adrian Brody has been officially cast in the upcoming “Predators”. The news broke yesterday with a report from Variety magazine. Apparently, Brody and his agents had to fight this one out with to get the role.
The New Predator film will be helmed byNimród Antal and is staring Danny Trejo, Alice Braga, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Louiz Ozawa and as of now Adrian Brody.
Hmmm. What can I say? Brody really is an awesome actor but, does his acting ability make him the right fit for the leader of a band of mercs, a la Arny style? I think maybe he does. He’ll have to get his cardio and weight lifting on if we’re to believe that this lanky dude can take on the master hunter. I think Brody has the dedication as an actor to do the job right. Plus, with Robert Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios behind this one, it would seem that come next year we will actually get to see the most bad ass alien finally get the respect and care it deserves. Hopefully this movie will finally let us all forget how gut wrenchingly bad the AVP movies are. I sure as shit know if those movies bled we all would’ve killed them. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
