This glorious new still image released from Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus might be the coolest thing we’ve seen yet. We’ve already caught a glimpse of this scene in the trailer but the wonderful hi-res image gives us a great detail-full look. The image was found while perusing the Weyland Industries site and it’s thought to a picture of the Space Jockey throne room. It’s crazy lookin’ whatever it is! Also, sites are reporting that is Charlize Theron there in the middle, what’s she doing?
The new International teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’sAlien prequel “Prometheus” has hit the Internet. Like most of it’s movie blockbuster trailer counterparts it’s got just enough changes and additions to the domestic trailer that fans will want to check it out.
“Prometheus” stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron,Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson.
Film synopsis: Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Maybe in space, no one will hear you scream on June 8th, 2012, but if your sitting next to this NerdBastard in the theater and scream . . . your getting a lap full of popcorn, hot buttery popcorn.
If you haven’t seen the International poster yet, you can see it here.
After the first G.I.Joe movie with wisecracking Marlon Wayans, worst casting ever, this NeredBastard wasn’t hopeful about a sequel that takes off after the last movie ended. Then the first trailer came out and with the casting of The Rock and Bruce Willis, this just might be the G.I.Joe movie fans have been waiting for.
The new international trailer builds off a solid tradition of badassery that follows generally the same pattern as the first theatrical trailer. The Joes are set up by President Zartan, Channing Tatum probably dies, and the survivors seek revenge.
What fans didn’t get until now is a preview of the Snake Eyes-Storm Shadow fight and President Zartan complimenting Cobra Commander on his new “cool mask.” (Thank the Lords of Kobal for Cobra Commander’s proper mask!) Throw in scenes where Jinx has more opportunity to shine in all her ninja glory and this NerdBastard had to go spend some time in his bunk.
If you were a fan of the latestAmazing Spider-Man trailer, then you are going to straight-up love the international trailer. Mostly because it’s the exact same thing…with about four additional shots. Still, we’re talking about Marc Webb‘s July 3 reboot of the Spider-Man franchise with Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Denis Leary, so anything new is worth pointing out. Check out the trailer below.
While most of us were still waiting patiently over at the most popular spot on the web this week, Apple Trailers, it seems somehow the official trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus has leaked early. Okay, so the trailer has leaked before, but that was in terrible, butt-vision quality. This video isn’t in HD but it sure looks great. Give it a watch below before it’s gone. I have no idea if they’ll pull these videos once the trailer officially goes live at Apple, but we’ll update if they do.
Whatcha think? Was it worth watching a bunch of countdown teasers videos? To be honest, I had to watch it twice because my eye kept being distracted by the slow formation of the Prometheus title. It was a neat effect, but distracting. Am I the only one who had this issue?
It defintely has a perfectly creepy vibe, though, and I love it. Alien is my favorite of that franchise because it’s more a horror story than an action one. Don’t get me wrong, I freakin’ love Sigourney Weaver kickin’ all that ass, but Alien is frightening as hell. And remember, in space no one can hear you scream.
I get much of that same vibe from Prometheus. And I’m stoked. If there’s one guy who can breathe new life into this franchise, it’s Ridley Scott.
[UPDATE: Guess what!? The trailer has now officially been released on Apple Trailers in glorious HD. Feast your eyeballs!]

So, I get up this morning. Put a robe (a Jedi robe. What else?) around my naked nerd body. Brew some coffee. Pour myself a cup and sit down in front of my MAC. I pull up the ole’ RSS feed and I see some coffee spitting news. “Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ Prequel Scrapped. Reworking Script Into Something Called ‘Prometheus’. So after a year of talk and hype we are no longer getting an ‘Alien’ prequel? It’s gonna be replaced by some other sci-fi thriller? Uh, what? What the fuck happened?
Deadline reports that the film once meant to be an Alien prequel has become something “more original,” and that the Jon Spaihts draft that kicked things off has been reworked by Damon Lindelof and Ridley Scott into Prometheus. In addition to the part being played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) there is another big female role in the film, which is being circled by Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie. Three major male roles have to be cast, too.
Here’s what Ridley scott has to say about the film:
While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.
Wow I wasn’t expecting this. Though, in a way I’m kinda relieved. I mean – I don’t really feel like an Alien prequel was warranted. I would have saw it, but I’m very satisfied with mystery and not revealing the origin of Space Jockey and Aliens. Plus, I don’t have much faith in the aging Ridley Scott. I’ve had doubts that his weakening mind would be able to deliver on fan expectation. Be nice to see him come full circle with the franchise, but regardless of talent involved it be way to hard to judge the film on it’s own merit. We’d look at it in comparison to the other films and rag on how it’s child hood ass rapage. We all know how Star Wars ended up…
“While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place.”. I’m curious on what the fuck that means. Will this new project relate at all to the ‘Alien’ universe, or is this something new entirely? Regardless, I bet it’s going to be something great. Ridley is returning to his sci-fi roots. While I think he is knocking on deaths door, his heart and mind are in the right place. With today’s technology at his disposal I’m confident will get something even better, something I’m sure we will all embrace.
Stay tuned for more news regarding ‘Prometheus’. Will be on it like stink on a monkey.
When you hear a description for a character as “fortysomething, tough-but-sexy” Charlize Theron is most definitely someone that comes to mind. Hence why she may be in the works to do the new Alien prequel being done by Ridley Scott. Sounds like a pretty badass combination right?! Well, let’s hope it happens.
Set to play lead is Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragan Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2). I’m super excited about this news since she kicked ass in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and I didn’t even understand what she was saying half the time! Definitely check Noomi out in Dragon Tattoo before seeing Alien, you won’t be disappointed.
But I digress… I really hope that Theron takes the part after looking over the script, which she is supposedly getting this week. It will definitely make Theron and her agents look less douchey for backing out of Clint Eastwoods’ J. Edgar Hoover biopic after saying that Theron would do it when she never formally agreed to. I mean, if you’re gonna blow off Clint mutha fuckin’ Eastwood than you better be doing some cool shit in it’s stead. What do you guys think about Charlize possibly being in the new Alien flick??

The Ridley Scott Alien prequel has finally received a proper movie title. No longer known as “another Ridley Scott alien film” it can now be safely called Alien: Paradise.
The first known encounter of the xenomorphic alien species in this rebooted franchise will follow the usual premise of an Alien movie. A group of survivors being picked off by the aliens one by one until there is only one person, our heroine, left alive. Yet, who would this scrappy team of survivors actually consist of?
Those that fancy getting their news from nerdbastards should know by know that our heroine Elizabeth Shaw is being played by (hubba hubba) Swedish actress Noomi Rapace. Her fellow teammates we’ve come to learn are the android “David” and the human “Vickers”. David is an early version of the Bishop 341-B android famously played by Lance Henriksen and Vickers, the forty-something yet tough and sexy woman of the crew. Ridley was interested in having actor Michael Fassbender in the role of David, but talks broke down thanks to Fassbender’s reps asking for an outrageous sum for their client. As for the role of Vickers, Ridley has high hopes of acquiring Michelle Yeoh of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Fame. The cast is being rounded out by having an older, business gentleman along for the ride but more interesting is the individual known as Engineer 1. Pulling a King Kong move for this role, this act will be done by a six-foot-five-inch actor and will be seen on film as an entirely CGI character. If the cards are right then it’s a good guess this isn’t done by veteran motion capture actor Andy Serkis, who stands at five-foot-eight-inches tall.

People have been wondering since news broke on an ‘Alien’ prequel about what the plot will be about? Well wait no further, plot details were recently leaked on this upcoming Ridley Scott film. Be warned, if you wanna wait till the film comes out then don’t read any further, SPOILERS AHEAD:
The script tells of the space jockeys traveling from planet to planet and terraforming them. The process is essentially transforming a planet where living beings can exist.
The aliens are used by the space jockeys (known as “Growers” in the script) in their terraforming process as some sort of biological tools. They usually don’t develop into the creatures that we know, but do so during the latest effort.
The space jockeys are holding two human slave farmers captive. They are named Fin and Karik and are forced (via mind control) to engage in sexual activity. The twist: they’re both male (Churches be warned).
The idea behind the man-on-man action is apparently that the growers want their human slaves to breed. They have no idea about human genders (You think they would have studied) as they are a single sex race and so things get a little confused.
The signature alien won’t appear until the latter half of the film when it fully develops.
There will be a spaceship crew, consisting of a black female named Oliver, similar to Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein) from “Aliens.” And another female crew member named Truks, who Gemma Arterton (of Clash of the Titans) is rumored to play.
Ridley Scott has met with Lance Henriksen (Aliens’ Bishop) to appear in the film.
The editor calls the film a hard science fiction, part psychological drama.
There you have it, a special glimpse into what will be coming (in 3D) to screens by the end of 2011 or 2012. Yet, with the film’s production currently on an indefinite hold, thanks to budget issues between Scott and 20th Century Fox, will we see this before it’s too late?
What do you think about what ‘Alien’ has is store? Good? Bad? Full of more crap then Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem? Let’s hear what you have to say.
Not too long after getting some info on the Alien prequels from Ridley Scott himself, we get some casting rumors. It seems that Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) will be meeting Scott for the upcoming Alien films, or so she says in an interview with the Sunday Times. Of course, once this news came up on the internet, people instantly wondered if Arterton could be our new Ellen Ripley.
What do y’all think about this casting rumor? You think Arterton can pull off being Ripley or do you have someone else in mind that you believe can pull it off? Also, she may be meeting Scott for another role so who knows until something is officially confirmed.
