After months of hearing nothing about either a sequel to Zombieland or the possible TV show, within a week we’ve learned what this TV version of Zombieland will be as well as where we’ll see it, on Amazon. Today, Deadline is reporting Sony Pictures TV and Amazon are reaching a distribution deal and the film’s original screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are signed on to write as well as executive produce. In addition, Zombieland‘s other producer, Gavin Polone, is also joining as executive producer.

The new guy is going to be, Eli Craig, who is in talks to direct the series. As he also directed the recent horror-comedy, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, the guy’s a shoe-in. Even better, Craig considers himself a big fan of the original movie,

Zombieland was just one of these fun rides. The first 30 minutes were probably some of the most exciting and humorous action-comedy-horror filmmaking I’ve ever seen.

I’m excited to enter Zombieland‘s hilarious spin on the post-apocalyptic worlds again, are you? What do you think of it being offered through Amazon’s streaming service?

You really cannot call yourself a nerd if you haven’t read this book yet.  Reclaiming The Soul of Halbert Halburt- Book 1: The White Book was this century’s introduction to a book series right on par with the fantasy writings of the 20th century greats.  (Do I need to tell you who the greats are?  C’mon, you’re a nerd!)

The book was written by our very own Zach Lawrence, one of the head writers on nerdbastards.com. In this first installment of what will be a several part series, you meet the title character, Halbert Halburt.  Nothing pleased Halbert more than a great pair of shoes, so simple was his provincial life.  That is, until a talking bird appears on his doorstep and insists he go on a quest!

You will laugh with and pity the main character as he stumbles through his quest; meeting heroes and villains along the way, as he slowly learns that he isn’t like other people.  He doesn’t have a soul.  The quest is to find the pieces of his shattered and scattered soul that lay about the vast world, waiting to be found by him before they are found by the evil Demonon and his minions and put to bad use against the human race.  The book was plugged by Howard Stern on Sirius XM radio and found a cult following niche.  Don’t you wanna be one of the cult?  I should say so!  Here’s your kool-aid.

This book has been out since March of 2008, so check it out, buy it on Amazon.  Also, check out the site dedicated to the book series.  Even better news, the second book in the series has just been given the finishing touches and sent off to be published, so keep your ear to the ground for it.  It’ll knock you on your ass with its greatness!  You will bow before Zach in trembling awe!  (Or if nothing else, you’ll be thoroughly entertained.  Who doesn’t like that!?)  More updates to follow on this amazing book series right here, on Nerd Bastards!

While not BREAKING news, this is massive in the world of our Vampire NB’s. And Vampire news is extremely important. Christine and myself are huge fans of the works of Anne Rice, and I’m a major True Blood junkie. Yes, I will admit, Vampire shows and movies and Hot Topic products are suffocating all of us. Even the (no pun intended) die hard fans are getting feelings of vilification towards their beloved groove, so it is a nice blast of blinding, white sunlight to a Vamp’s open coffin to hear this news.

Dracula: The Un-Dead is the work of Dacre Stoker the great grandson of guess who? Bram Stoker! 112 years ago in 1897 the original Dracula was published, and on this past tuesday, October 13th 2009, the LONG awaited followup was released at bookstores everywhere and here at Amazon. Although I have yet to read it, I am extremely excited and while I occasionally read books to review, me or Christine will have a something for you guys to read soon enough.

It is garnering warm reviews and has a cool plot line, taking place 25 years after Dracula “Crumbled into dust.” I also think that the idea of a family member taking up the torch in the same vein as JRR Tolkien’s lineage, is a much classier way to write in the footsteps of a legend. At this rate, we will have a trilogy by 2121!!
