We’re drawing closer and closer to Marvel’s next big movie release: known colloquially to the fans as Avengers 2.5 due to the copious amounts of heroes being featured, Captain America: Civil War is sure to be action-packed from start to finish. Fans everywhere are already “picking sides” between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man, and previous trailers and promotional images have shown potential viewers which heroes are choosing to align themselves in either corner (no word yet on the preferred affiliations of Baby Groot, however). While we are rumored to get a new Civil War trailer this week, Marvel has already hit us with new stuff to fawn over: a deluge of new character posters featuring the characters who are affiliating with Cap himself. Evangeline Lilly, the center of everyone’s favorite love triangle on that much missed show of the early aughts, Lost, may be on track to receive her own solo Wasp film. Lilly’s Wasp will join Paul Rudd’s Antman in summer 2018 for the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, but writer Adam McKay has indicated that may not be the last we see of the Marvel heroine. It all depends, it would seem, upon the success of the upcoming sequel. 2015’s Ant-Man was another success for the Marvel franchise, bringing in a worldwide total of $519.3 and sitting well with both critics and the general population. But will returns like that be enough to get Wasp her own movie? (more…)
Toys and play-sets from mega movie properties will see the films core characters and battle scenes make it to plastic form, obviously. One thing toy tie-ins often also do… is spoil a movie surprise. Toys are made and released months ahead of a film premiere; with the purpose of getting toys in the hands of kids (and collectors) to market the movie. So that being the case, there’s really no avoiding it. Still, that doesn’t make it any easier when you’re perusing the aisle of a toy store, see some toy set that catches your eye… and boom… spoiler!
Such as the case with Marvel’s latest super hero mega fest – Captain America Civil War. An upcoming LEGO set depicts a truly transformative reveal… and here we are complaining about spoilers, but sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. So click away to check it out if you just have to know before hand. (more…)
There are some movies that, as you watch, you think to yourself “the blooper reel is going to be hysterical.” Thanks in large part to the up-tempo dance moves of Paul Rudd, Ant-Man has proven to be one of those movies. Rudd has a constant aura of goofiness radiating about him at seemingly all times, so his timing of mid-shoot to break out the moves isn’t so out of character. And judging by the way the rest of the cast kept getting their groove on, it seems his vibe was contagious! (more…)

Hey, why isn’t Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin on Twitter? Because he’s already killed all 140 characters, that’s why! Ah-ha, that’s my favorite internet joke. But seriously, Martin has never been shy about letting his opinions be known, and he recently took to his blog to wax poetic about his displeasure with the current crop of bad guys being portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So if you saw Ant-Man at any point in the last several days, you’ve probably been wondering: is any of the stuff the ants do in the movie legit? That is to say, are the depictions of ants in the film scientifically accurate? It’s not like Hollywood movies put a premium on scientific-correctness, I mean have you seen the works of Roland Emmerich? Still, it’s kind of fun to consider where fantasy ends and realism begins, and to that end, some industrious internet journalist thought, “Hey, let’s ask an ant expert some of the stuff they do in the name of fighting evil and coolness in Ant-Man. Some of the answers may surprise you. (more…)
If you’re not familiar with YouTube user Mr. Sunday, it’s time for you to set a couple of hours aside and check out his amazing work. The guy has a YouTube channel (and a pretty sweet accent, too), and all he does is two things: 1) win (of course), and 2) root out all the hidden references and subtle “in-jokes” in movies. He’s recently given us a lovely overview of all the easter eggs you’ll find in Ant-Man (making my planned article about the exact same thing largely irrelevant, but I ain’t hatin’), and it’s pretty darn thorough. Give it a watch for yourself below, and then let me know in the comments: is there anything he missed that you caught?
