Toxicity in fandom isn’t limited to Star Wars. Every franchise has its trolls that people don’t like to talk about. Don’t feed them, don’t give them attention, and they’ll eventually go away. Unfortunately, even a bit of bad attention is enough for folks to thrive on. Fans are passionate, and when fans are passionate in equal but different ways, the fandom splits and near-war breaks out. Arguing is fine, it’s one of the things we as nerds do. A healthy debate helps drive things forward. If we didn’t cuss and discuss how things work, why they work, motives and histories, our fandoms wouldn’t grow to be as big as they are. But when does our passion get taken too far? When the drama around the fandom almost overshadows the hype around the things we love.
Now before you start desperately trying to invent transdimensional travel to find which wonderful alternate timeline lucked out with a mid-90’s Batman v Superman staring John Cusack and Bruce Willis, it turns out the following trailer is actually the masterwork of YouTuber Frank Ireland (under the name ChiefBrodyRules.)

It seems, with increasing certainty, that Warner Bros has a devil may care attitude when it comes to making superhero movies, emboldened by the fact these properties are too big to fail, that fans are going to see them no matter how good or bad they are. If a succession of critically flawed movies wasn’t proof enough, there may some actual evidence of this thanks to an off the record Hollywood dinner where execs were heard talking Ben Afflecks’s solo Batman movie, what a mess it is, and how they blatantly don’t care.
