Last night, the casts of the 1984 (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts) and the 2016 Ghostbusters (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones) joined forces on the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage to celebrate Ghostbusters Day and promote the upcoming film’s release on July 15th. Guillermo as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was the highlight of the evening and it’s pretty evident that Bill Murray has an almost unhealthy attraction for that character. You’ll notice there’s a couple of different outfits worn, some of these must have been shot earlier in the day. (more…)
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… and mass hysteria is headed your way as the casts from the 1984 original and the 2016 reboot Ghostbusters will appear on stage together on Jimmy Kimmel Live to celebrate Ghostbusters Day on June 8th. “The Internet is gonna blow up, blow up real good,” as Big Jim McBob (Joe Flaherty) and Billy SOl Hurok (John Candy) would say on SCTV’s Farm Film Celebrity Blow–Up. It’s the 32nd anniversary of the release of the first film. Which cast members will be on stage when the two streams cross?
The Jungle Book has not seen a live-action adaptation for at least two decades. Since the original 1994 Disney release, which tried to shed a few shadows into the light-hearted cartoon classic in an attempt to stay true to the source material, the studio has seemed content to leave well enough alone. However, the newest TV trailer for the film that was aired during Superbowl 50 has given us a greater insight into the newest movie and it seems like the studio has chosen to stick closer to its own tradition…
If you didn’t already have enough reasons to subscribe to Netflix (Daredevil, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Longmire, Pinky Blinders, I could go on and on) now this little gem, A Very Murray Christmas is here to sign you up. That’s right, Bill Murray is hanging out with all his celebrity friends, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, and Paul Shaffer and the band Phoenix on Christmas Eve when suddenly the snow starts falling. Will the rest of Bill Murray’s celebrity friends be able to make it to Bill’s Christmas Special? (more…)
Another big cameo has just been announced by Ghostbusters director Paul Feig. He decided to go ahead and announce Sigourney Weaver‘s cameo to beat the “leakers” to the punch. While Feig has said that he regrets these cameos being leaked and would rather have them be surprises for Ghostbuster fans, apparently he’s tired of the leaks and wanted to beat them at their own game. “Who you gonna call? Bill Murray!”
After a 26 year wait, fans of Ghostbusters are finally getting a new movie. So what took so long? We all knew that Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis worked diligently to get a script approved. However, it was missing a key ingredient – Bill Murray. For many years, Murray shut down the idea of making a new Ghostbusters movie. Therefore, without the blessing of one of the movie’s key players, Ghostbusters sat dead in the water. Time would not wait forever.
With the passing of Harold Ramis, the process eventually moved beyond Murray and a new movie was scripted. Without him, though, there would always be a sense of something missing. That is until recently when Murray made a cameo in Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters.. So what gives? Why did he make an appearance after all this time putting the idea down? (more…)
Under the direction of Paul Feig, the production of the Ghostbusters reboot is well underway in Boston, Massachusetts; but it seems that surprises are still springing up. The cast recently popped into a children’s hospital, fully geared and sporting brand new proton packs. On top of that, Dan Aykroyd took to Facebook to announce that he’ll have a cameo in the movie- just like another star of the original that was recently photographed heading to set. If you want to be surprised, don’t keep reading! But if you do, here’s the THR confirmed scoop!
There was a time when Radio, NOT TV, was the truest form of entertainment. Take a good script, a few colorful voice actors, insert a few real-world sounds and POW!… you’ve got a vivid story full of excitement, drama and intrigue playing out in your minds eye. Nothing you see on TV or the theater can match power of your own imagination.
Don’t believe me? Well then, curl your knees up to your chest, shut your eyes, and check out this this fantastic (no pun intended) retro radio show that features a young Bill Murray reading the role of Human Torch alongside Stan Lee in a 1975 radio version of the Fantastic Four comics.
NOTE: This post was originally published June 1st 2012. With the Fantastic Four reboot hitting theaters this week, we thought we’d pull this gem from the NB vault.
Surrounded by an ocean of discarded lanyards, empty hand sanitizer bottles, nerd tears, and a slowly dissipating funk cloud, it’s Bastard-Con 2015!, North America’s 4th biggest wholly audio nerd convention.
This year, Jeremy and Jason offer an exclusive (ish) preview of X-Men: Apoplectic, Deadpool: F*ck Your Face, Star Wars Episode 7: Practical Magic, Batman V. Superman V. Expectations V. Ash V. Evil Dead V. Studio Crocodile Tears.
Dan Aykroyd tweeted out confirmation of his cameo in Paul Feig‘s all female Ghostbusters Reboot/Re-Imagining over the weekend, but don’t try to find it, he or someone in his camp deleted the tweet soon after. Perhaps his cameo wasn’t supposed to be so publicly confirmed so soon. We all expected a cameo from Aykroyd in there somewhere, and now we know he’ll at least be in the movie, if not exactly how.
