Like every other geek girl (and boy) on the web, I totally idolize Felicia Day. Chatting with her for literally two seconds was a highlight of my Dragon*Con experience. So, naturally, I’m really, really pumped for the release of her new web series, Dragon Age: Redemption. Finally, today, we got an official trailer from Machinima,
Ooooh! I can’t wait! Also, how great does the tie-in DLC, Mark of the Assassin look? We reported on an exclusive preview from Kotaku last week, which shows more in-game action. But the trailer for the web series, I mean, wow, it looks so professional. And I’m not snubbing her other web series, The Guild, but the benefits of a larger budget show and it looks fantastic. I’m so stoked to see Day kickin’ ass as the elven assassin, Tallis.
In addition to the new trailer, Day shared more awesome news on her blog. Fancy winning some Dragon Age schwag from Felicia herself? Of course you do!
Starting next Tuesday I’ll be linking all the episodes to you here and on all my social media accounts(midnight international release on Machinima FYI), I’ve also been given a BUNCH of schwag to give out each week, like DLC codes, Dragon Age merch, signed headshots (etc), so hopefully you’ll enjoy that. There’s a podcast etc etc, so lots of fun stuff to come!
There’s a fanart contest currently going on over at Bioware around Tallis’ outfit (and a nice blog entry by the designer of the costume, Greg Aronowitz) and a puzzle contest that I’ll be helping link to all week until launch, so maybe give that stuff a peek to tide you over ’til launch!
Ahh! I can barely contain my nerdy excitement! If a chance for neat prizes isn’t enough for you (And really, why are you so demanding!?) Day will also be organizing, “some Google Hangouts to interact with you guys about the episodes, so you can meet the cast and crew and ask questions about the show.” If you were looking for that reason to join Google+, here ya go.
All right, let’s review:
-Dragon Age: Redemption premieres next week, October 11th at Machinima
-The Dragon Age II DLC, Mark of the Assassin releases the same day
-You’ll have chance to win cool stuff, including DLC codes, from Felicia Day when you follow her on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (Which, I’m sure you’re already doing)
What a fantastic time to be a fan of the Dragon Age series and Ms. Day. Honestly, who else can’t wait for October 11th?
The final installment of the Mass Effect series of video games is coming out this winter! And yet, besides from a rather vague trailer, details were very sparse.
Thankfully, the May edition of Game Informer has plenty of tantalizing tidbits!!
What we know is that Mass Effect 3 takes places after the final DLC for Mass Effect 2 entitled “The Arrival” where Sheppard had to make a hard decision and faces trial for his actions. However, the Reapers (a race of sentient machines) attack Earth smack dab in the middle of it, and claim Earth. So, what is Sheppard to do? What else but gather a squad and FIGHT!
Confirmed squadmates include (if they survived the events of the first two games) Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Garrus, and James Sanders. Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson are confirmed to appear but are not confirmed as squadmates.
The Illusive Man will play an integral role in the game. Cerebrus is also out for Shepard’s blood.
Skill trees have been expanded, offering multiple paths rather than just one. Other RPG elements have also been expanded, and all classes will be proficient with all weapons, but may have limited slots to carry them.
Multiplayer is not included in the game.
Executive producer for BioWare Casey Hudson spoke with Game Informer and described the game as such, “This is what we’ve been looking forward to the whole trilogy, if you think about the IP that we’ve built, really every one of the arcs we’ve got going are leading towards this long list of incredible moments, and that’s really what Mass Effect is made out of.”
The battle for Earth is lost. The only hope is to flee, gather support, and mount a counter-attack to reclaim the planet.
Also in Mass Effect universe news, a new novel has been announced to be released this fall entitled Mass Effect: Deception by William C. Dietz.
As well, BioWare recently announced is a full-length anime movie based on the Mass Effect games, set to be released next summer by FUNimation.
Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us. Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.
Are you excited for the game? Will you be good (paragon) or evil (renegade)?
Give me a P. Give me an A. Give me an X. What does that spell? PAX…you dyslexic sucka duck! YES, the much-anticipated, annual, nerdfest PAX East (a la Penny Arcade) in Boston came, went and totally took advantage of the prime real estate that is my body. I need a breath mint, deodorant and massage from a small Vietnamese woman with mighty – yet gentle- hands (and is up for expected happy ending). For those of you scratching your heads wondering what the hell is PAX East?! First, I’d like to slap you upside the head for being an ignorant douche-canoe. This is our culture. How do you not know about this?!?! OK, here’s a quick run-through: PAX East, is like a smaller E3, but intended for consumers rather than developers. See, they get a bunch of video game hot shots to show off their hardware, software and um…in some cases hot chicks in tall boots
"These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you."
Then, they invite the public to hang out and fall in love with all kinds of the latest, greatest gear and games on (or about to enter) the video game scene. Attendees can play games, attend panel sessions about all kinds of cool stuff, see live music and even compete in video game tournaments! Exciting, right? YES! Especially if you like shiny bags of SWAG, the occasional hot chick in costume, new technology, and inspiring speeches.
So now you have a pretty solid idea of what goes on in general. What might not be entirely clear to you is the feeling of “home”. *cue the violin for sappy time* Let’s face it, we as gamers are strange and weird. We typically don’t mesh well with the world outside our own. The acceptance in ordinary society is growing quite rapidly, but how many people in your life truly appreciate and understand your pleasure, your obsession, your escape? While we’re predominantlyhaving too much fun to care, wouldn’t it be nice to be embraced by a collective mutuality? After all, you know gamer friends are the perfect circle of people you always want to hang out with. Why not a sea of thousands, all singing to the tune of “Let’s Play”? Simply put, PAX is your haven. Your heaven. Your home.

Last night on Late Night with Jimmy FallonFelicia Day premiered the first trailer for the eagerly anticipated Dragon Age: Redemption. I reported on the new web series earlier this week but if you missed out let’s quickly review. Dragon Age: Redemption is an official web series produced with BioWare as a tie in to the sequel Dragon Age II releasing March 8th. Day wrote the story for the six episode series and stars as Elven assassin, Tallis. The series is set to release later this year and from the looks of the trailer they accomplished a lot on their tiny, web series budget.
Watch the trailer here and please, try not to drool too much. Your boss would appreciate it if you not ruin your keyboard just because Felicia Day is one sexy elf.
So, what do you nerdy bastards think? Now that you’ve toweled yourselves off, that is.
Bioware’s Mass Effect games have been talked about a lot in the video game world for its road paths that Shepard could take and the companions he can have with him. One could say the game leads some gamers to have a massive effect in their pants. Sorry for the obvious joke but we got news that Legendary Pictures (Watchmen, Dark Knight) has bought the rights to do a Mass Effect movie. What we know so far is that writer Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend) and that Avi & Ari Arad will produce. As far as story goes, no info yet but seeing how Mass Effect has different road paths, who knows what linear story the movie will do.
Hell, knowing Hollywood, maybe we’ll have a brother/sister team called the Shepards just to make both male and female Shepard fans happy. Also, I doubt we’ll get to see all the ass Shepard gets from the game portrayed into the movie screen since they will probably aim for a PG-13 rating. Anyway, what do ya’ll think? You think they will do justice to the franchise or will this die like your space fish in Mass Effect 2? Also, who would ya want cast for the film? Tell us what ya think by commenting after the jump.
