The man who would be Cage ... and Blade
Idris Elba, best known as Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell from the television show, The Wire, seems to be Marvel‘s new go-to man.
Elba, who is already playing Heimdall (the all-seeing sentry of Asgard) in Thor, recently told TotalFilm that he has signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel.
I have a picture deal with [Marvel]. I can’t tell you much about that, but I can tell you I’ll be back. … I wouldn’t mind having a crack at bringing Blade back, personally. There’s a couple of things there that they have. Luke Cage is … very interesting.
All of this is coming right after the news that he will be playing a warrior monk in the upcoming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence.
Do you think that he would be a good choice for Marvel? Or, is he flirting with over-exposure, and should those parts go to other actors (like the Old Spice spokesperson, Isaiah Mustafa).
Check below the jump for a mini-biography on Blade and Luke Cage.
So yeah, two years ago (yes two freaking years ago), Madhouse Studios (Trigun, Paranoia Agent) announced that in collaboration with Marvel Animation, that they will make an Iron Man and Wolverine anime (click on each name to view their trailers from last year). Here we are in 2010 and we finally get news that G4 will be the station that will air the anime. With Iron Man airing first, then Wolverine, we’ll eventually get an X-Men anime as well as a Blade anime.
The Iron Man anime will have Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, new Japanese characters, and an army of Iron Man Dio’s. The Wolverine anime obviously have Wolverine, Mariko Yashida, Omega Red, and Yukio. Both are set for a 2011 release and no news if G4 Canada will air the anime since they are a separate company with US’s G4.
So, any of ya’ll interested in an anime version of beloved Marvel characters or is this news one of the most terrible thing you have heard? My only complain is why air it on G4 since I pretty much stopped watching that channel within the last couple years (Yes, I miss TechTV). Tell us what ya think after the jump.
Here’s the thing. Superman is unstoppable. I’m not building up to it, or beating around the bush at all, I am just balls out saying it. Superman: The Movie was on the other day and I came to a realization, that besides the fact that the theme song at the end moves me to tears for some strange reason, this guy f***s shit up. Also it got me thinking. Is there anyone whose ass Superman can’t kick? So I compiled a top 10 list to help me think more clearly.. Here we go, the Man of Steel..The Mastodon of Krypton, takes on all adversaries.
Please note this is by no means a definitive list. Just the views and opinions of one guy. I invite you to share your own thoughts and opinions on each and everyone one of these scenarios.
Some of our favorite movies of marquee value over the last century have been extremely well acted, beautifully crafted and earned tons and tons of Oscar noms and wins. But we are forgetting a very crucial part of these films. Not the DP. Not the Grips. Not the Director or the small people involved behind the scenes that you never hear about, but something SO VERY CRUCIAL, the film cannot succeed without it.
What could it be, you must be asking yourself after the buildup I’ve created here. Here it is….The Sword. Yes, in any action film, fantasy or period piece, a good sword by the main character’s side is as important as a good actor…seriously.
