Hot on the heels of last week’s first look at Domino (Zazie Beetz) Ryan Reynolds has just tweeted out a first look at Josh Brolin as Cable and it is glorious. Deadpool 2 is shaping up nicely and while some may have had issue with Beetz’s look for Domino, there isn’t a comic book fan alive that can argue that Brolin’s Cable isn’t straight from the comic book pages. The special effects powers that be behind Deadpool 2 are wasting no time getting ready for production as they begin the process to transform Josh Brolin into Cable. Brolin shared two images on Instagram today that certainly show his commitment to the role. Sitting still for that kind of head cast is not easy. Word around the Internet Grapevine via The Hollywood Reporter, is that Josh Brolin (Jonah Hex, Men In Black, Avengers) has signed a four-picture deal to play Cable, aka Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, first in Deadpool 2 and then X-Force and others? While it shouldn’t surprise anyone, besides Ryan Reynolds, the soon to be Deadpool franchise has been making casting decisions from left-field since the beginning. (more…)
The success of Deadpool has ignited a whole now conversation about what it happening in the world of comic book inspired movies. All of a sudden, darker and more violent storylines became legitimate options for future films, more mature content seemed to the on the horizon. The potential storylines were narrowed down at the bonus scene after the end credits of the first movie, when Ryan Reynolds‘s masked mercenary expressed dear wishes to get his old buddy Cable in the sequel. Since that sequel was confirmed, there has been a tense dialogue about what fans can expect from it and who will be involved. (more…)
Another day, another Deadpool 2 Cable casting rumor.
Every since the character was announced for the sequel at the end of the first Deadpool movie, the only thing everyone seems to care about is who will be playing the character. For the last year, month over month, names have been mentioned, rumored, and fan casted. Where fans may see perfect casting in Stephen Lang (Avatar) or Ron Perlman (Hellboy), the studio seems to have different presence for the character. Names on Fox’s supposed shortlist are, in no particular order: Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Russel Crowe (Gladiator), Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and David Harbor (Stranger Things).

Let’s face it; Deadpool was every raunchy, comic book-adoring individual’s dream. It had everything you could ask for from one of the most sarcastic actors in Hollywood perfecting the role to some of the most gruesome fight scenes to grace the screen and the superhero movie trend in a long time. Logan leaves the X-Men movie universe in an odd place. With it supposedly being Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart‘s swan song, it definitely feels like an important turning point in the history of the franchise, both the end of something, and the opportunity to start something else. But what does the future of the X-Men look like? Well, if only person can know it would be Simon Kinberg, the writer/producer who’s had his hands in every X-Men project for over a decade. We’ve heard all the rumours, but in a new interview Kinberg elaborated on how Deadpool, Cable and others all fit into the big picture going forward in this cinematic universe. (more…)
Given all the hype surrounding Deadpool 2, it’s a casting choice that fans are hungry to know the most. It’s been said since the post credits of Deadpool 1 that the time-traveling, cybernetic, mutant known as Cable will be teaming up with Pool. It’s pretty much a given that the Deadpool 2 production team will be pulling out all the stops to cast Cable and teas fans relentlessly about it until the ink dries on the contract for whomever they decide on. In the mean time, fans can continue to fantasize at all the actors who’ve cropped up. Names like Stephen Lang (Avatar), Keira Knightley (Pirate of the Carribean), Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Pierce Brosnan (James Bond). Only the latter two have reportedly been eyed by Fox.

Deadpool was a massive hit when it arrived in theaters last year even becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. Everybody knew the film would have a sequel… The Merc With a Mouth even told us so in the Ferris Beuler’s Day Off post-credits scene. What we didn’t know was who was going to be making a cameo. Other than the obvious name drop for Cable, it was anyone’s guess as to which X-Man (or X-Woman) might pop in for some comic hilarity. Now we know the answer, and it’s not surprising to find out that the next Deadpool flick will be lacking in support from Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
