Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Are you ready for Comic-Con? Well, too bad because you’ve still got three weeks to wait suckers! But it’s not all bad. In the lead up to one of the biggest conventions of the year studios have already begun teasing new footage to several upcoming movies, many of which will be featured at San Diego Comic-Con.
During this year’s annual CineEurope convention in Barcelona, Spain two of these studios, Disney and Fox, previewed exclusive footage from their upcoming Marvel feature films, including The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World, next year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And while no footage has been leaked as of yet the fine folks at ScreenDaily were in attendance and took note of everything going on between the two studios.
Over at the Disney presentation the company began with a never-before-seen production feature for the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, and followed it up with both footage and behind-the-scenes footage from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. No word on if any of the stars were in attendance for either film, but Disney must really have some high hopes for their Captain America sequel. In a pre-taped interview Winter Soldier co-Director Joe Russo said, “It’s going to be much greater than any Marvel movie to date.”
A big gamble considering Fox has both The Wolverine coming out next month and Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past on the way. Speaking of Singer, Fox showed off a new action scene from The Wolverine and a behind-the-scenes video tour of the Days of Future Past set. Fans of the film will have a sense of the set having already seen pictures and short video released by Singer, but in the video the director reveals what he calls his “in-between-quel”, “takes place all over the world, including in Russia, China, France, Washington D.C., New York, Japan,” and beyond. According to Bryan the film will have, “more of an international flair than the other films.”
This is only a rough idea, but if this is what the studios were showing off in Barcelona you can bet they’ll be bringing their “A” game to San Diego. Either that or we just got a preview of the exact same footage we’ll be seeing next month and just saved a few people a plane ticket and several hundred dollars. Guess we’ll find out in July.
Everyone’s been speculating about who will end up playing Hank Pym in Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man movie ever since Edgar Wright showed up at SDCC and played some test footage for the crowd. Nathan Fillion was an Internet favorite for the part, but he’s shot that down a couple of times in interviews. Today we’ve got another of the rumored Ant-Man favorites, Armie Hammer. He recently visited the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier while traveling as part of Disney‘s press junket for The Lone Ranger and this set visit has many people in the know asking, is Armie Hammer Ant-Man?
Amy Nicholson remembered that Wright had also visited the set and cornered Hammer for a few questions, let the Ant-Man interrogation began:
So, you and Edgar Wright visited the Captain America 2 set…
Me and Edgar? Who’s Edgar? The actor?
The director. Edgar Wright.
Is this an act? If this is an act, you’re convincing.
No, it’s not an act. Who’s Edgar Wright?
The supposed director of Ant-Man.
Ant-Man? Oh! Wait! You think you know something! No, there’s nothing! What do you know? What’s the rumor?
That you were spotted on the Captain America 2 set with Edgar Wright.
No, there’s nothing.
I promise. I promise-promise. Ant-Man?
You’re saying it like you’ve never heard of him before.
No, I know the character Ant-Man—like, the comic book character.
You can’t tell me that this is the first time you’ve heard the rumor that you’re playing Ant-Man.
First in my life. I swear to god, cross my heart, hope to die. Amy! [Turns to his publicist Amy, who says, ‘”I’ve never heard of that ever ever. Who’s Ant-Man?”] They make him shrink! You’re a news-breaker right there.
Potentially fictitious, apparently.
Well, it works. [Fake enthusiasm] I’m doing Ant-Man, I’m very excited about it. Me and Edgar.
I did go visit the set, though. Not with Edgar.
Just by myself.
Um… a buddy of mine was working on the movie so I just wanted to go say hi.
! ! ! DANCE ARMIE DANCE ! ! !
Wow, Armie can two-step questions like no ones business. Does this put the nail on the “Who’s playing Ant-Man Coffin?” Not really, but it’s fun to see these actors dance around whatever non-disclosure contracts or letters of intent they must be signing with Disney.
Do you think Armie would make a great HankPym? I know everyone wants Nathan Fillion to jump into the Marvel Universe, but with his Castle contract, that doesn’t look like a near future possibility. What do you think?
Spoilers ahead, obviously. Although if you’ve been following the development and production of Captain America: The Winter Soldier then you may have already inferred that there are only a few returnees from the first Captain America movie. Of course, we all know one of them because he’s right there in the title, but the other returning actor had merely a rumored chance of being in the new movie, at least until some enterprising Cleveland journalists took the attached spy photo.
Yes indeed, that is none other than actress Hayley Atwell, in old age make-up, playing an older and wiser Agent Carter. Snapped in the posh neighborhood of Cleveland Heights by the ClevelandHeights.Patch.Com, the crew of Winter Solider seemed to be shooting the reunion scene between Cap (Chris Evans) and Carter outside of 2178 Harcourt Boulevard.
Of course, this news shouldn’t come as too surprising. Atwell has been rumored to have a cameo in the film as well as being part of a confirmed short film project featuring Agent Carter that will be screened at this year’s San Diego Comic Con and will be included later on the Winter Soldier Blu-ray.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier bows in theaters on April 4, 2014.

So you say you really, really need to know more about the latest in Marvel flicks? That you can’t survive without a few spoilers in your belly? Well, we got a few for you, courtesy of the Internet 100% reliable news circle. This time around, a few tidbits to whet your appetite regarding the upcoming Guardians and the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
First, a little bit about what to expect from Guardians –
It looks like the main baddie is going to be Ronan the Accuser. Thanos will supposedly be around, though his role is going to be tied to something larger and will likely carry on into the Marvel universe as a whole.
There will also be zero Avengers showing up in Guardians, so expect the flick to focus on these new heroes and not the old. Despite this absence of Avengers faces, it is confirmed that the time/space continuity will be the same as all previous films, so no worry about your brain being juggled.
Secondly, a few pieces of info. about The Winter Soldier –
Apparently, Winter Soldier will play a major role in bridging the story gap between Avengers and Avengers 2, though how this comes about remains to be seen. It also looks as if Black Widow will have a much larger role to play and the movie will take some time to delve into her back story, so good news for Widow fans.
And so ends another day of the Marvel rumormill. If this didn’t satisfy your appetite for information, check back daily. No doubt we’ll have something more for you soon enough.
Or just relax and wait until the movies actually come out to learn what you need to know. Guardians of the Galaxy arrives on August 1st, 2014 while Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be hitting screens on April 4th, 2014.

When Anthony Mackie was cast in the role of Captain America’s modern day partner, the Falcon, fans were excited to see this character brought to life on the big screen. Mackie recently talked about Captain America: The Winter Soldier and his role with EW.
It’s a cool story and brings in some amazing characters and the Falcon is one of the things that fans are already excited about.
It’s a movie that has kind of turned into a bigger-than-life opportunity for me. I’ve had these little milestones along the way and now to play a superhero and to work with people like Robert Redford, Sam Jackson, and Chris? It’s just turned into this amazing moment.
Mackie stressed that the Falcon didn’t wake up with or get bitten by some radioactive insect or other accidental method like so many other heroes:
He’s a really smart guy who went through major military training and becomes a tactical leader, he’s not some guy that fell into this.
The Falcon’s personal code and character are another defining part of the role.
The most important thing I got from everybody at Marvel about the Falcon was the need to show that he’s a very righteous, man-forward kind of guy. He would do anything to protect the man next to him and to protect his country. That’s the integrity of the character and the integrity of the man and that that’s what I have focused on.
The biggest thing for me, the most exciting thing for me, is to come out on Halloween and see all the little black kids dressed up like the Falcon. There are so many parts of our society that are not catered to or represented fully and this will give a new generation of our society someone to look up to and identify with. That’s why I am so intensely focused on bringing the character to life in a special way.
I find myself liking what Mackie has to say about the character and Mackie’s own feelings about the Falcon and the Falcon’s importance in the Marvel Universe. As a huge Captain America fan, I’m really looking forward to this movie and the new characters.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, hits the big screen on April 4th, 2014.
Although people like to scream bloody murder every time a filmmaker gives a classic hero a make-over, it hasn’t stopped them yet. This time around, it looks like Captain America will be donning a new suit for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Check out a few pics of what the Cap will look like below.
So why on Earth does the Captain need a new look? Apparently, this redesign is supposed to be his S.H.I.E.L.D. outfit, a uniform of sorts to announce to friend and foe alike that he’s got Nick Fury backing him up. As good an excuse as any, right?
But fanboys need not start in with the raging and poo-slinging just yet. For it seems as if the Captain will only be using the new suit in part of the flick, returning to his old school uniform sometime later in the film. Thus, we will get to see the Captain in a variety of stylish fashion options.
Check out the star-spangled soldier in all of his suit-ish glory when Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters next year on April 4th.
Thanks to blastr for the heads-up.
With all the wild fight scenes and stunts already filmed in Cleveland, production on Captain America: The Winter Soldier has moved inside for more, let’s say, intimate filming. These latest set photos come from Cleveland paper, The Plain Dealer, and feature Chris Evans and Scarlet Johansson getting quite close.
Take a look beyond the cut. Because SPOILERS, duh.
There’s some new concept art from the Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s production floating around the Internet. We’d had the partial look above, but now we get a much better full frontal of the concept art for Captain America’s new look.
What do you think? It’s not to crazy a leap from the original or the suit worn in The Avengers. Hopefully we’ll start seeing some pictures from the production set where Chris Evans is in full uniform and not the civvies we’ve seen him in so far.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Hunger Games”) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (“The Ring 2,” “Revenge”) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Thor”) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is shooting even as I type and as it shoots, so too do the set leaks of pictures and videos hit the Internetz. This time around, we get a little of both, showing some more of the street brawl between the Captain and his nemesis. Check it all out after the jump.
While Captain America: The Winter Soldier is filming in Cleveland, Ohio, we’ve got some set pictures and video clips for y’all. You’ll catch a few peeks of Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, their stunt doubles, a flipped bus, a car on fire… y’know, the usual.
Hit the jump to see the goods. Or, well, you know what I mean; we’ve already seen “the goods.” (*cough*ScarlettJohanssonpictures*cough*).
