Super Bowl time is a time of rejoicing for many sports fans. But even if you don’t happen to be a football aficionado, you can still get some pleasure from the Super Bowl, for it is also the time when marketing companies go out of their way to promote anything and everything. Further, this year the commercial barrage is going to show off some of the big-budget movie blockbusters that will be hitting during 2014. So which trailers can we expect, you ask? To the disappointment of kids everywhere, you know that your Halloween costume is never going to look exactly like the character from your favorite TV show or movie that you’re dressing up to be. But if we’re to look at these things from a different angle though, me might instead appreciate this as an opportunity to get a good look at the character designs for some of our most highly anticipated movie. We’ve only gotten glimpses of it so far- at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, and the beginning of The Avengers– but one of the biggest issues that needs to be confronted in the coming Captain America: The Winter Soldier is how Captain America acclimates to the current year, as a man from the 1940s. I generally dismiss entertainment magazines, what with their nonsensical celebrity gossip and 1000 different ways to get abs. On occasion, though, I’ll see a super hero on the cover and stop to say “oh that’s nice” and read the feature without buying it (so evil).

Empire magazine has unveiled two covers for its upcoming February issue and they both feature Captain America: The Winter Soldier. You can check out the regular cover and the Limited Edition Collector’s version below.



Last night’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./Thor: The Dark World crossover went relatively well (check our Official Nerd Bastards review of the episode here), and it seems like a no-brainer that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will send ripples through the show as well. As most Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. viewers know (or, at least, should know), tonight’s episode will be based around the fall out from Thor: The Dark World, and such a crossover has led many to wonder, “What other tie-ins will we see?” Fortunately, Jed Whedon, Joss’ brother and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer, took to filling us in on what might be in the show’s future, which could include a cameo from a huge Marvel name.
