crossover

When two of your superhero leads have natural chemistry and a background in musical television, then you’ve got to take advantage, right? Especially when you’ve got a villain named the Music Meister waiting in the wings. So now the moment has come for the Flash and Supergirl to show off their musical chops, or rather their alter egos Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, as it’s exactly one week till the hotly anticipated musical episode of The Flash called “Duet.” And behold: we now have a new trailer for the episode, which strongly implies that Barry and Kara are going to have to sing, or die! Since Supergirl joined the CW line-up last May, plans began for what is perhaps the most ambitious superhero project since The Avengers themselves, the four-series, four-night epic team-up of all the CW’s superhero shows. Those plans come to fruition in just a few weeks time as Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow come together to fight the terror of the Dominators, because what better way to bring superheroes together than giving them an alien invasion to fight. Well, now available for your building excitement is the CW’s first trailer for the crossover event, which literally promises (as per Felicity Smoak) the best team-up ever! (more…)

The greatest enemy of the crew of the Starship Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation was the Borg, an anonymous species of drones serving a queen marching out into the universe to capture and kill others in order to propagate their race and get rid of anyone that’s a threat to them. So it looks like Picard and crew won’t be facing anything new they encounter the xenomorphs in the just announced Star Trek: TNG/Aliens crossover that will see Enterprise encounter the titular creatures of the film series started by Ridley Scott in 1979. IDW and Dark Horse Comics just announced the event called, Acceptable Losses. (more…)

BTiLC / EfNY Comic

Just because Big Trouble in Little China is getting a remake, doesn’t mean there isn’t any love for the original. BOOM! Studios, currently known for handling the excellent comic adaptation of Adventure Time as well as the current Power Rangers comic series, has been on the radar of your average comic-geek for a little while now for both aforementioned series, and it seems like they’re ready to make another splash in a big, John Carpenter-esque kind of way with the newest series they announced on July 11th.

This morning, the CW announced it’s fall schedule at the upfronts, the annual presentation of all U.S. networks announcing their new shows and new line-ups. It was revealed today that the CW intends to make 8 pm the DC hour with Supergirl on Monday, The Flash on Tuesday, Arrow on Wednesday, and Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday; to borrow a joke, the CW should basically change its name to DCW, right? That might not be too far off, because in the spirit of the Supergirl/Flash crossover, which was one of the former’s highest-rated episodes of the season, the CW is looking to its first mega-crossover of all four series. Way back (a couple of years ago) when word came out through the Sony email hack that the studio was developing a crossover between Men in Black and 21 Jump Street we were all unanimous in our appraisal that while Sony may have been floating a trial balloon internally, it would almost certainly be too preposterous to pursue. Shows what we know. Now, the MiB/Jump Street crossover is so real that Sony is now actively promoting its development, and in front of theater owners yesterday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, they actually gave it a title. On the other hand, they also announced the involvement of a pair of key figures that should mitigate fan concerns. (more…)

After what’s seemed like months of teasing, the first crossover (and we’ve got to assume that it will be the first of many) between Supergirl and The Flash happens in exactly one week. A magazine cover last spring featuring stars Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin (along with the Greg Berlanti, the executive producer of both shows) proved how photogenic they are together, which in Hollywood is half of any effort. But now, we get to see if the two have any chemistry, and the proof offered in the promo for “World’s Finest” answers in definitive terms, they do!. It looks like next week’s crossover is going to be a lot of fun indeed. (more…)

Batman-v-Superman-Dawn-of-Justice-Teaser-Posters-0Dawn Of Justice is coming to give us the DCU superhero pow-wow we’ve all been waiting for and nerds everywhere are pumped but worried about the film having way too many characters featured to begin with. I mean don’t get us wrong, we love us an ultra-crossover as much as anyone, but with Doomsday, General Zod and (possibly) Bizzaro #1 already in the roster, we can’t help but worry that the 2-and-a-half-hour runtime might stretch the film way too thin. At least Zack Snyder seems to agree with this point, if the recently released interview tidbit is anything to go by…

Civil War is the big MCU punch-out that’s been hyped to the Moon and back and we can get why, especially considering the wider implications this will have on the larger timeline. While some fans had their doubts, test audiences were particularly hyped after the first screenings and now, Sebastian Stan, the Winter Soldier, had some pretty great first impressions to lay down on us…
