Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com

That’s right, ladies. Vader’s got himself a whole new, sexy, ride. Forget those TIE fighters, it’s an Ariel Atom high performance sports car all the way. (Geek Tyrant)

Infographics (informational graphics) are all the rage these days. It clearly points out that people don’t like reading anything unless there are pretty pictures involved. Well, in continuing with the trend here’s a history of Marvel Comics infographic style. There’s some cool information on here that maybe some of you didn’t already know. I for one didn’t know that at one time Marvel owned the rights to the word Zombie. I now own it, and anyone that uses it owes me a cupcake. Cupcake or GTFO!

Sometimes we nerds have to consume more than Coke and Taco Bell as we save the world from strangely electromagnetic villains and mean orcs. So what do we do to get the power-up? We bake. Cupcakes, no less.

justJENNrecipes.com has posted pics and a how-to for the cupcakes she created to show off her stationery at a comic book shop. Naturally, Jenn wanted to go with a superhero theme, so she used fondant icing to create cupcakes bearing Phoenix, Captain America and Superman crests.

It seems cupcakes are spreading wider than syphilis these days, as the dear boyfriend and I even got into the act over the weekend. Our cupcakes were messier than Jenn’s and we didn’t use fondant, but gosh golly, we loved our 1upcakes just the same:

Have you baked something as a testament to your Mario Kart skills? Decorated cookies to look like the early 20th century weapons found in Red Dead Redemption? Tweet your pics to @nerdbastards with the hashtag #NBcakes, and we may feature them in a future post about sweet edible nerd art!

If you were presented with 100 cupcakes bearing nerdy icons, would you stand there and try to identify them all? I certainly would.

Flickr user Z Andrei shares photos from a party in which the hosts decorated 100 cupcakes with board, electronic and video game images. Obviously, the hosts put a huge effort into this, as the cupcakes boast well-done art from Simon, Donkey Kong, Candy Land, Mortal Kombat and more. Their guests must have had a blast identifying the games.

A larger image of the cupcakes is below. How many can you identify without help?
