This is the year of Who. The show’s reached its greatest popularity, ever, and is steadily approaching its 50th anniversary. We’re currently in the middle of Doctor WhoSeason 7B, or Series 7 Part 2 to you Brits, and the anticipation is building with each episode. Who is Clara, this “impossible girl,” and how does she connect to the series’ golden anniversary? That’s the big question, at least it’s my big question. There are no coincidences, Victorian Clara’s birthday was November 23rd for a reason, I just know it! It’s either that, or Steven Moffat is an even bigger troll than we imagined.
Here’s what we know for sure about Who‘s big 5-0, it’s going to be epic. Recently Doctor Who writer Robert Banks Stewart teased Digital Spy about the baddies we’ll see in the 50th,
The Zygons are in there with all the others – particularly the Daleks and the Cybermen. [But] nobody yet knows what the plot of the 50th will be – Steven Moffat and his team in Cardiff, they are quite rightly keeping it all secret.
Definitely appearing in Who‘s 50th will be the Tenth Doctor – or is it his meta-crisis clone? – and Rose (Billie Piper). Hit the jump to learn how David Tennant feels about being back in the TARDIS.

The first part of our best episodes list covered Season 5, Matt Smith‘s first season, and what I still consider to be one of the finest seasons of Doctor Who, ever. From here on out the picks for our will be pulled from Seasons 6 and 7A, which I’ll admit are a trickier bunch to choose from. It was only a matter of time before the Moffat Era of Who would begin hitting a few bumps along the way. The end is almost upon us, the second half of this season’s Doctor Who is almost here! We’re four days out from the second half of Season 7, having last seen the Eleventh Doctor off to find the connection between the Clara Oswin Oswalds, traveling across time in search of another Clara. Oh, what’s that? Just some Daleks cruising the halls of the LAX Marriot last weekend during the world’s largest and longest running Doctor Who convention, Gallifrey One, celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who and 24 years for the completely fan-run convention. Gallifrey One is a pilgrimage for Whovians of all kinds, offering plenty of Who-centric entertainment from their wonderful guests to sketch comedy shows to a fully judged Masquerade to one wild karaoke, where it isn’t unheard of for a guest or two to perform. I’m looking at you Tony Lee and Richard Dinnick.
But back to those Daleks, I managed to capture a short video of their hallway hi-jinks that you can watch below. There’s also a few more photos in the gallery at the end of this post, including ones where you can see many of the convention’s guests, like Sylvestor McCoy (7th Doctor), Nicholas Pegg (Dalek operator, otter), Frazer Hines (2nd Doctor companion, Jaime), and Dan Starkey (Sontaran Strax), signed one of the pepper pots.

The Zelda Project is a Los Angeles, CA based group of friends who seek to bring to life the characters, settings, and overall feel of Ocarina of Time through photography and film. With the premiere of Doctor Who Series 7 less than two weeks away we’re heading into Who overdrive! The Beeb isn’t stopping their promotional storm either, today releasing a 20 second clip from the beginning of “Asylum of the Daleks.” Check it out,
SAVE THE DALEKS! Huh, think that’s a plea The Doctor (Matt Smith) will agree to? Remember that scene from the official trailer where he’s carrying Amy (Karen Gillan) and is surrounded by dead Daleks? Yeah…don’t think he’s gonna save them.
But then again, The Doctor usually isn’t that cruel and it’s likely after a long period of inner turmoil, he’ll make a last ditch effort to help. And did anyone else have the thought that when Rory (Arthur Darvill) asks, “Who killed all the Daleks?” and the Doctor responds, “Who do you think?”, that just maybe it was Amy?
All right, maybe not because those are some pretty obvious WHO clues in that exchange, but it was a thought. And that’s all I’ve got to do until the new series airs! AHH! September 1st needs to be now!
