The last time there was news about the world of James Bond, it was a couple of weeks ago when it was revealed that the producers were exploring the idea of a cinematic universe. Interesting direction for a movie series named after *one guy*, but more importantly than that was the fact that it had been a while since we heard a status update for Bond 25, the next movie in the series starring the man with a license to kill. In fact, it’s been far from certain that the present 007, actor Daniel Craig, was even going to come back for another James Bond adventure. (more…)
Bond. James Bond. The film franchise spans 54 years and has given us 6 different actors portraying the agent known as 007. Continuing the legacy of Ian Fleming’s beloved British character, EON Productions intends on making what is being called ‘Bond 25,‘ aptly named for this becoming the 25th film in the franchise. But a brouhaha has developed as to just who will portray the smooth, martini-drinking, super spy with all the cool gadgets.
Sources close to actor Tom Hiddleston are confirming that he is in “advanced talks” to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig. Talk of a new 007 have been swirling with everyone from Hiddleston, to Idris Elba, to Gillian Anderson throwing their name in as interested in the super spy role. (more…)
When Daniel Craig was announced as the new James Bond in 2005 he was mostly known for his ensemble work in films like Layer Cake, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Munich. He wasn’t the most obvious leading man material, and some people said he was too “rugged” to play the dashing 007, which was really a nice way of saying that he was “too ugly” to be Bond. A couple of shirtless scenes in Casino Royale changed that a bit, but Craig’s total refreshing portrayal of a more gritty Bond won him praise and made his era as the super-spy one of the most successful in franchise history. Still, it seems when Craig is done with Bond, he’s really done. (more…)
Generally, there are two types of people who go to see “Bond Films,” those movies that feature Ian Fleming’s super-spy James Bond: those who are Bond superfans, and those who are not. Whether you’re an action-film fan, you just enjoy seeing the latest and greatest releases, or you are the significant other of a Bond superfan, if you fall into that second category, you will likely be left wanting by Spectre, the latest in the 007 mega-series and current Bond portrayer Daniel Craig’s fourth outing in the main role. If you’re a Bond superfan, however, this movie is going to give you all you can handle, and then maybe just a bit more for good measure.
In just a few short weeks, the latest James Bond adventure, Spectre, will open in theaters worldwide. Not only is it hotly anticipated like any Bond movie is, but given the near-universal acclaim of Skyfall, the hype can no longer be empirically measured. But now the celebrations have been cooled to some degree by talk about the future of Bond, specifically the future face of Bond. Having now completed four Bond movies, it would not be unreasonable to expect that star Daniel Craig might be looking to move on, and now in an interview, he says that yes, he’s done with Bond. Unless they drive a dump truck full of money up to his house, of course. (more…)
With the pending release of Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, and the fourth to feature Daniel Craig as Her Majesty’s bestest spy, there has been none too idle speculation about who might take up the mantle (and the tux) next. Might the producers go for a Jane Bond? A James Bond of color? Or the inevitable stick with a white guy in his early 40s casting call that has worked so well thus far for the franchise? One name that constantly gets mentioned as a potential next Bond is Idris Elba, but according to one author who picked up Ian Fleming‘s pen to continue the written adventures of Bond disagrees, and his words may not be without some controversy. Following on the heels of the billion dollar success of Skyfall is as close to a no-win scenario as Hollywood can get, but can Sam Mendes beat the odds with his second foray in the world of James Bond 007? The answer to that question is teased as a resounding ‘yes,’ in the new trailer of Spectre, the 24th Bond film (the 4th starring Daniel Craig) and the eagerly awaited follow-up to Skyfall. The new trailer reveals more about the mysterious villain played by Christoph Waltz, who may or may actually be the iconic Bond big bad Ernst Blofeld, but he does take responsibility for being the cause of Bond’s pain. What oh what does that mean? And why is Bond going rogue again? Answers (maybe) below…. (more…)
Rumors have been swirling around the Internet that Simon Pegg and Daniel Craig have asked to do cameo appearances in J.J. Abrams‘ Star War: The Force Awakens. Both just wanted to be involved is some small way. Simon Pegg has publicly confirmed that he does have a cameo, but recently he accidentally confirmed and outed Daniel Craig’s cameo. (more…)
“You’re a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond.” That’s some Mr. Burns level of bloviating from a villain though nowhere near the perfection of “Seems the caterpillar has emerged from its cocoon as a shark, a shark with a gun for a mouth,” but it will do. The line is where things turn in the teaser for Spectre, the upcoming 24th James Bond that re-introduces Bond’s best known worst nemesis to the series. Director Sam Mendes is back to follow up Skyfall, and seemingly Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace too, and Daniel Craig, of course, will also return as 007 himself. For now though, prepare for the spine-tingling tease of the very atmospheric trailer of Spectre. (more…)
Back as Bond, and back in black, Daniel Craig strikes a pose in the above picture from Spectre, the 24th film in the long-running James Bond film series. There have been some social media snippets released from the set, but this is the first “official” photo from the film, which is currently shooting at locations all around the globe. It’s hard to think of a setting more evocative of Bond than the Alps, in this case, specifically, the Austrian Alps, and the last time Bond went skiing on film has in 1999’s The World is Not Enough so it’s about time! So get you skis shined up, grab your Walther PPK, and hit the slopes with the cast and crew of Spectre in a new behind the scenes video. (more…)
