Well reality, it’s been nice but you’re going to be taking the backseat soon. Bethesda has released the trailer for Dawnguard, the first DLC for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. From the two and a half minute slice that we get (Bethesda says they’ll release more details ‘soon’), I have to say it looks pretty sweet. It’s all vampires vs vampire hunters this time around, and we are talking the good nasty mean vampires, not the sparkly ones.
Dawngaurd will hit X-Box Live this summer, a steal at just 1600 Microsoft points. PC and PS3 users will have to wait a little longer. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Yesterday we showed you a new trailer for the DLC, Harley Quinn’s Revenge for Batman: Arkham City, today we’ve got gameplay footage. This comes courtesy of Game Trailers TV and it’s only a short preview tacked onto a longer segment about Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Jump to the 18:10 mark for the Arkham City footage.
While earlier previews have focused on Harley Quinn strutting and putting Bats in his place, this time we get to see Batman in action as well as Robin, who’s been upgraded to a playable character for this DLC. Sadly, Harley Quinn’s Revenge is said to be the last DLC for Arkham City, but it looks to going out with a bang.
Harley Quinn’s Revenge releases May 29th as a DLC as well as being included in the “Game of the Year” edition of Arkham City. Plan to check it out? Puddin’ must be avenged!
It’s really no surprise Batman: Arkham City is being heralded as Game of the Year. Not only is it an amazing Batman game it’s one of the most expertly crafted video games and I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet played it, pick us this edition. The Game of the Year version comes with everything: all the DLC packs, the characters, the levels and the skins. I know you want to tear through Gotham as the Batman from The Dark Knight Returns.
Also included will be the final DLC, “Harley Quinn’s Revenge.” That’s right, she’s back and more than a little upset her puddin’ is dead. Check out the trailer below, including a small tease of the new DLC, as well as a bit of new art below.
The “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” mission sends players back into Arkham City to face their final challenge as they interchange between playing as both Batman and Robin. Gamers must utilize each of the characters’ unique combat and investigative skills to uncover Harley’s vengeful plan and shut the gates on the urban mega-prison forever. n addition to experiencing a new storyline, fans can explore new environments and face-off against Harley’s all new gang of thugs.
Batman: Arkham City The Game of the Year edition, as well as the DLC “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” releases May 29th.
On December 20th X-men arch enemy and metal bending mutant Erik Lehnsherr, better known by the name Magneto, will be given a new character skin for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. These new duds of his has the nation of Spain pissed off.
According to Spanish reports, Zarzuela Palace and the royal house may seek a lawsuit if game company Capcom releases their latest DLC next month. Based on his appearance in The Pulse: House of M Special Magneto’s royal gear nearly matches that of King Juan Carlos. As king, and Captain General of the Armies, this look is his part of his royal appearance and worn for special occasions. You just can’t make a copy of it and have nobody notice.
Koch Media, the game’s distributor in Spain, has been warned that the depiction may infringe on the copyright of the royal figurehead, but this is a strange case. Usually, a lawsuit like this can only be done for physical products and the uniform worn in game is a digital production of the king’s royal dress. Capcom has refused to comment on this yet, but maybe they never even noticed the mistake. For all we know their copyright police were off on a donut run at the time.
The look between the two is almost uncanny though, just look at the medals and that shitty looking wallpaper. The only difference is that Magneto has a chin of Bruce Campbell proportions and you can’t copy that.
The challenge maps of Batman: Arkham City will keep you coming back to this game for months, maybe years, to come. You can always fight better, score higher on the hit counter, be stealthier, and beginning November 1st you can add another character to your already impressive roster of Batman, Catwoman and Robin. Enter Nightwing.
Try and tell me this trailer doesn’t make you squee like a little girl. Everyone always says they want to be Batman, but honestly, I don’t think we want the brooding or crazy, emotional baggage. We want to be Nightwing. A skilled and fearsome fighter, trained by the best, but still able see to lighter side of things.
Like Catwoman and Robin, Nightwing will come with,
…his own unique gadgets and special moves, and is playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that are included with the pack: Wayne Manor and Main Hall. The pack also contains a bonus Animated Series Nightwing character skin.
Suh-weet! I really hope the animated skin includes that sick mullet Nightwing was sportin’ back in the day. The Nightwing Bundle Pack will be available on the 1st in Xbox Live Marketplace for 560 Microsoft Points or the Playstation Network for $6.99. Also, those of us who didn’t pick up Batman: Arkham City from Best Buy and therefor didn’t get the exclusive Robin DLC, that bundle will be available for the same price on November 22nd.
Whose planning to download the Nightwing DLC? I am, and only partially for chance to swoon as he pummels dudes with his electrified escrima sticks, I swear!
Just one of those times when all the rumors are true. Nightwing will be available as a DLC releasing on November 1st, only two weeks after Batman: Arkham City‘s release (October 18th, for those not in the know and not completely obsessed). Like, Robin, Nighwing will be playable in the challenge maps, Wayne Manor and Main Hall. The Nightwing DLC will retail on Xbox Live for 560 Microsoft points or on PSN for $6.99.
Also, some exciting news, Robin will not only be a Best Buy exclusive. If you don’t pick up your copy of Arkham City from Best Buy you can wait until November 22nd when his bundle will also become available as a DLC. Both the Nightwing and Robin bundles will include additional skins, for example skins from Batman: The Animated Series.
Below is our first official image of Nightwing from Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Interactive, and it is sooooo much better than those leaked screen shots from a few days ago. Seriously. Mrowr.
Major geek and web goddess, Felicia Day. Is there anything she does that doesn’t make us fall completely, hopelessly in love with her? An avid gamer, she created and stars in the best web series on the planet, The Guild, she’s been the adorable yet tragic love of Dr. Horrible in Joss Whedon’s musical web series and she’s one of the best reasons to keep tuning in to the final seasons of SyFy’s Eureka.
Day recently combined her nerdy passions again with the new web miniseries, Dragon Age: Redemption, starring her own original character. That character, Tallis, is also appearing in the Dragon Age DLC, Mark of the Assassin and guess whose voicing her? Yup, Ms. Day. She also did motion capture and facial scanning for the video game role, which is a total first for the Dragon Age franchise.
So, if your a fan of the Dragon Age series, and are totally in love with Felicia (like, who isn’t?) then October 11th is your Day (heh, see what I did there, so0 clever). Dropping October 11th is the new DLC, Mark of the Assassin in which Hawke, the player-character meets the elven assassin, Tallis, as well as the premiere of the six-part miniseries, Redemption, which will air weekly from there on out.
Kotaku had a chance to visit with Day as she demoed the new DLC. And apparently, Day is as in love with herself as we are,
… as she played, Day always took the flirty options when speaking to Tallis. As she put it, “Of course I romance myself. I’ve always said, if I had to make out with my clone, I would.”
Those familiar with the Dragon Age games know a lot of the fun comes from developing romantic relationships between your character and the NPCs. Oh, who am kidding, the point is to see how many of the NPCs you can have sex with, so whether or not Tallis is fuckable character is yet to be seen. Fanboys and girls across the gaming nation are praying for a yes.
Check out Kotaku’s video review featuring a great look at the DLC, including of course, our first look at Tallis in game.
Both Mark of the Assassin and Dragon Age: Redemption release October 11th.
[One, two, Freddy’s coming for you- on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the newest piece of Mortal Kombat DLC content.]
Having played the newest Mortal Kombat game, I’m happy to report (what most of you already know) that it’s a great mix of old-school and modern fighting conventions. Ed Boon and his creative team went back to MK’s roots. Back to the time of 2D arcade fun. The game play grabs the feel of Mortal Kombat 2. The games animation, sound and graphics are top notch! Honestly, it looks and feels good. Oh, and the fatalities are brutal and gory as ever. The most obscene and ridiculous yet. With that said, can someone please explain to me what the hell Freddy Krueger is doin’ in Outworld?
There has been one question on the minds of Mortal Kombat fans around the world. It has plagued their every hour, their every night, and even their darkest nightmares. When can I finally get my hands-on Freddy and pit him against my favourite Mortal Kombat warrior? Well the time has come and Freddy will be available on PlayStation Network tomorrow and Xbox LIVE very soon!
A variation of the classic Wes Craven character, he comes out swinging with two of his signature razor gloves and DLC launch trailer.
Don’t get me wrong, Freddy looks like he’ll give you a rip roaring good time in between tearing your opponent limb from limb, but where do the character cross-overs end; do we want them to end?
Last month, LucusArts revealed the new DLC for Star Wars Force Unleashed II where players will be able to take Starkiller to the planet Endor during the Return of the Jedi time frame. At the time, most fans only imagine that this was their chance to zap the hell out of Ewoks but LucusArts had something else planned.
Yes folks, LucusArts has set it up where you, the player, kills Chewbacca and Han Solo. Now this isn’t the first time that LucusArts has altered the original trilogy story line as the Hoth DLC from the first Force Unleashed game had a different take for Obi-Wan and Luke as they faced against Lord Starkiller.
What do y’all think of this? Did LucusArts used too much liberties with the story for the DLC or is this the sort of thing you’re looking for when playing video games? If anything, this will be one way to start a nerd fight.
