Now that Disney owns Fox, properties formerly outside the umbrella are finally back where they belong. Fantastic Four and X-Men, primarily. And it’s only a matter of time before the MCU welcome their lost children back to the big screen. And fans have already been throwing out their casting choice. One Redditor gave a suggestion that’s gotten over 20k upvotes or fake internet points. But will you approve? Every Nerd has an opinion on who would be the best Doctor Doom. And even if they don’t have a suggestion, they have an opinion on other’s casting of Marvel’s First Family. But this is a solid list of proven actors that could easily embody these characters and usher the MCU into a bright new phase.
There are many things that are not good about the three Fantastic Four movies that have been released so far, but one of the most consistent has been the portrayal of the team’s classic nemesis Doctor Doom. Portrayed by Julian McMahon in the two Tim Story films, and by Toby Kebbell in Josh Trank’s disastrous remake, the cinematic version of Doom has not been befitting of the man who’s basically the Lex Luthor of the Marvel Universe! (As in everyone has a beef with him.) If you love Comic Con surprises, good news, a high-profile writer is going to finally give Doom some much needed love in his own solo film. (more…)
It seems like only yesterday that we were eagerly looking forward to just how badly Fantastic Four was going to bomb at the box office. Ungenerous? Sure, but looking back, no one was really expecting anything revolutionary, or even satisfactory, about Josh Trank‘s rebooted effort around Marvel’s First Family. There hasn’t been much in the way of mea culpas following the astounding thud of FF’s release, a lot of blame being thrown around, but no one’s really acknowledged just how hard the hammer fell back in August. In a strange twist, the actor that played Doctor Doom is saying that he understands your disappointment, and he’s grateful for your feedback. (more…)
The Fantastic Four reboot has been a hard nut to crack with most of the cast and crew involved keeping information in what seems like a hermetically sealed vault. Finally, some details are starting to surface regarding Doctor Doom and the altered origins of this iconic comic book villain. We have been told to expect a much more grounded film than the previous installments which starred, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis as The Fantastic Four, and were more comedic in tone. It seems director Josh Trank is going for a far more brooding Dark Knight approach this time round. (more…)
We’ve seen the Thing picture floating around the Internet from Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four reboot. First FOX started throwing around Cease and Desist orders to take the image down, then weeks later Trank tweets the same picture, which hangs around for a day or so and then gets deleted. Now we’ve got a couple of shots of Doctor Doom on set. Wanna get a look? (more…)
With a sequel already slotted for 2017, the folks behind the Fantastic Four reboot better get their asses in gear to ensure that the first one actually arrives on time. They’ve got the main cast lined up, but there’s always that little question of who the main cast will be fighting. It looks like the powers-that-be have elected to use the most classic of FF villains – Doctor Doom. What’s more, they have a face to place behind the iron mask – Toby Kebbell. (more…)
I guess the eurozone crisis has hit Latveria particularly hard since Doctor Doom has apparently resorted to knocking over convenience stores to pay the bills.
If you’re in the Richmond, VA area, be on the look out for the dictator, who, with one of his associates, knocked over a grocery store in the 3000 block of Stony Point Road on Friday night. Doctor Doom walked into the store around 11 pm, having traded in his customary suit of armor and green tunic and cape for a green hoodie and some runners, and ordered the cashier at gunpoint top open the cash register. Doom and a man wearing a orange and brown with a skull and bones design and a nondescript black mask ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No magic? No Doombots? No death rays? Wow, Doom’s really come down in the world. Citizens with any information on the current whereabouts of Doom and his cohort are asked to police, or call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000. You can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Obviously, the Richmond police would appreciate it if those tips didn’t come from your comic collection.

Get a load of these jewels Batman. Gotham’s Queen of crime may have looked awesome in the live-action Dark Knight Rises, but this slightly alternate version by Ivangod may have the big screen beat. Thankfully nothing was stolen at the moment of this drawing – except our adoration. [Deviant Art]

Not much, until Daniel Acuna America’s baddest senior Clint Eastwood dressed as Uncle Sam moments before delivering his own brand of old glory justice. Just needs a little more monster truck and you’ve got the next promotional poster for the USA. [Geek Tyrant]

First off this week is some paper art by Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann, who call themselves Zim and Zou. This collection, called Back to Basics, consists of models of retro electronics that are hand made with sustainable paper. Every scrap is saved for potential later use. It’s pretty fuckin’ insane. Check out the site for more pictures, and a video detailing their process.
