Now we’ve got hints that at least two characters will be joining Elsa. Who do you think they are? (more…)

And because the world is filled with crazy, paranoid and hateful people, we here at Nerd Bastards bring you this breaking news – There’s a loopy religious guy ranting about how Disney’s Frozen will destroy your kids’ minds, reducing them to depraved sub-humans that want to have gay sex and molest animals while worshipping the all-powerful Satan-monster. Yup, that’s the scoop, boys and girls. At least according to Pastor Kevin Swanson. (more…)
Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been, well, on fire. The second of 4 films, based on the book series from Suzanne Collins, burst onto the scene in November and has scorched the competition. In fact, something very important just happened. Not only has Catching Fire just become the highest-grossing release of 2013 - made a staggering $409.4 million surpassing Iron Man 3, which earned $409 million through tickets sales - it’s the first female-led film to come out on top since The Exorcist in 1973. That is a huge deal. Particularly for Jennifer Lawrence. Think about the greatest actresses in the last 40 years, none of them were able to do this until now. (more…)
Though we never got around to giving Frozen a proper review here on the site, it didn’t slip by unnoticed. For Disney it was a triumph not only for their incredible animation of wintry snow and ice, but its songs harkened back to their smash hit musicals The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Everything was perfect–up until the very, very end when the movie kind of forget it was a musical. (more…)
Disney has reinvented their princess line with movies like Tangled and Brave (technically a Pixar film, but man does it play like a Disney movie), and judging by this trailer Frozen is going the same route. Gone are the days of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty being bit players in their own adventures as their princes do all the heavy lifting. Not that Rapunzel didn’t have a love interest, but her rapport with Flynn was made central to the plot and she certainly didn’t sit on the sidelines for the film’s action.
And that’s what we’re getting with Frozen, a film that either to its benefit or not looks an awful lot like Tangled in the arctic. Check out the first full trailer below,
It’s a new year, and along with the resolutions you’ve probably already broken, there’s a fresh slate of films to look forward to, and Nerd Bastards has chosen 25 to keep your eye on. Some titles you’ll know, others you might not, but one thing’s for sure, by the end of the year you’ll think some of them rocked and the rest of them sucked. As to which films will go which way, I’ll let that be a pleasant surprise.
