Every day, the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Every Wednesday and Saturday (mid week/end of week) we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

Ash Williams: Groovy S-Mart employee with a penchant for boomsticks and mad DIY prosthetics skills. Also, unlikely hero from the sky, fated to stop the Deadite invasion. Pretty much the spirit of the 80’s b-horror movie flick. Lobo: Space biker with a short fuse, and an anti-grav motorcycle. Hangs out with a school of space dolphins. Has fought Wolverine and made it to the second round. Functionally immortal, with the capacity to infinitely reproduce from each drop of his own spilt blood. Each of them is a smug anti-hero with an almost fanatical cult following among the most gung-ho nerds.

Once, they were separated by vast gulfs of time and space, each occupying his Universe of origin. That is, until Brian Rosenthal, the director behind the 2013 fan film Marvel Zombies VS Army Of Darkness thought otherwise. After  holding his own against zombie-Wolverine and narrowly escaping a super-zombie infested New York,  Ash Williams has broken into a brand new universe, also overwhelmed by the undead and filled to the brim with horror-themed cameos!

conanstarwars

Conan and company brought out the big Star Wars: The Force Awakens guns for last night’s show with guests J.J. Abrams, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Issac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Lupita Nyong’o, but even all those stars couldn’t outshine the opening bit for the show. It’s a brilliant bit of Star Wars comedy by Conan and friends that takes a look at those characters not called back for the Episode VII. (more…)

homealone

Ever wonder how Kevin McCallister turned out after the events in Home Alone? Jack Dishel’s new webseries :DRYVRS tackles the question in the first episode with an appearance by Macaulay Culkin. The episode, called “Just Me in the House By Myself,” clocks in at just over five minutes, but it gives the audience a pretty good idea of how Kevin’s life has gone since that fateful week when he was eight years old. Last night I found myself wandering the Internet, as most of us do when I can across Weird Al‘s The Sage Begins video. That led me to another Star Wars Parody song which led me to others. It’s a vicious cycle once the Internet starts matching what you’ve just watched with other things it thinks you should be watching. An hour or so later I thought, “Hey, why not make a post and make this easier for folks.” So here’s a post of 20 or so Star Wars Parody Songs/Skits to kill some time before you head out to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Bad Lip Reading Star Wars

No doubt many of your are mere hours away from seeing Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens, and a very good percentage of you have probably re-watched the the original 3 movies in preparation for this cinematic event. Of course that leaves a great many of us scrambling to find time to get a good solid recap in before the new movie and since Episode VII starts nationwide in just a few hours we don’t really have the time, now do we?

So, rather than blaming our poor time management skills (but seriously, we have to reevaluate how we spend our time,) we can breathe sigh of relief and bang out a full review of the only Star Wars movies that matter in a little more than 20 minutes thanks to the folks over at Bad Lip Reading.  You can relive all the high points of the saga like Old Ben’s endless quest for the Pickaxe of Cortez, Vader’s surprise tear jerking emotional reveal at the end of Empire, and of course the songs… Oh all the songs.
