Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the first trailer for the 4th Avengers movie. Some expected it to drop on Black Friday and were disappointed when there was no sign of the trailer. Now that the trailer is here, people can’t stop talking about it. The trailer brings back people fans missed out on in the last movie in surprising ways and reveals what fans are calling the biggest loss from Infinity War. What could make fans sadder than losing Spider-Man? NerdBastards breaks down the trailer and gives fans not privy to comic book history some clues as to what’s going on the trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
Disney XD has been making our wait for the Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series a little more bearable by releasing the origin stories of the main characters. This past month we have been able to dive deeper into the lives of Star-Lord, Groot, RocketRaccoon, and Drax the Destroyer; and now last but never least: Gamora.
Just the other day, the marketing team at Disney/Marvel dropped a cool-looking character poster on us. We got a look at Groot and Rocket Raccoon, looking bad-ass and ready to rumble. Now, we get the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew. Scroll on to see the latest character posters, featuring Drax, Gamora and the almighty (or not) Starlord. (more…)
[UPDATE! Since Marvel can’t seem to quit with the Guardians spam (not that we’re complaining) you’ll find the film’s first official poster below the cut.]
Hot on the heels of the first full trailer come these quick peeks at the crazies who make up James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. To the disappointment of kids everywhere, you know that your Halloween costume is never going to look exactly like the character from your favorite TV show or movie that you’re dressing up to be. But if we’re to look at these things from a different angle though, me might instead appreciate this as an opportunity to get a good look at the character designs for some of our most highly anticipated movie. So, are you interested in getting a good look at what the main characters from Guardians of the Galaxyand Captain America: The Winter Soldier might look like? Snapshots are below: (more…)
When comic book characters are brought to life on the big screen they almost universally get a new look. Sometimes it’s for logistical reasons, other times it’s to tone down an outfit that looks ridiculously awesome on paper, but in real life, just ridiculous. The X-Men, Avengers, Batman, and Superman; they’ve all gone through the Hollywood makeover machine. So trust me, James Gunn and Marvel‘s Guardians of the Galaxy will be no different.
While the whole team hasn’t been cast yet – Chris Pratt is Star-Lord, Dave Bautista is Drax the Dextroyer, and Zoe Saldana is Gamora, we’re still waiting to hear about Rocket Racoon and Groot – Saldana is already antsy to know what her character will look like. They’ve decided to realize the alien assassin, Gamora, green-skin and all, through practical effects with very, very little CGI. Meaning Saldana’s going green, literally, for the role. But what of her outfit? Her hair? These are things a woman likes to know ahead of time.
I’m curious. That’s what I want I start to check out, too: Am I going to wear leather? Is it going to be spandex? How’s my hair going to look?
Us too. Will her outfit look more like Gamora’s costume in the current Guardians comic, seen above, or more like the released concept art,
I’m hoping they model it after the current comics. It’s space age-y, with a Mass Effect feel I really dig.
In her interview with USA Today, which the above quote comes from, Saldana also spoke about her love of sci-fi roles, Guardians being her third after Avatar and Star Trek, saying,
I do have an affinity for people, writers, directors and storytellers who are that creative and have an infinite imagination to imagine the unimaginable and boldly go where no one has gone before. I know it sounds cheesy to use that line as a reference but it’s true — it takes a lot of talent and courage and freedom to conceive something that you have never seen, or take inspiration from everything around your life and build something that you’ve never actually physically seen with your eyes.
I’d be fine if Saldana worked in sci-fi for the rest of career, personally. She makes a killer addition to the genre. What do you think? And what do you think Gamora’s outfit should look like in Guardians? Or for that matter, any of the Guardians’ uniforms?
We were all but positive Zoe Saldana would be cast as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, and she’s officially moved from being “in talks” to confirming her involvement. “I’m going to be green!” she exclaimed in the first of these two Star Trek press videos, and had only praise for director James Gunn, adding, “I just met James Gunn in person this week and I think that he’s the best director to be making this film.“
In this next video Saldana goes over much of the same info as the first, but she does confirm Gamora will be realized not through motion capture but by her getting the green makeup treatment. Woo-hoo! Practical effects FTW!
Guardians of the Galaxy is expected to released August 1st, 2014. Are you happy with Saldana as Gamora? What do you think her make-up will look like?
She’s Hollywood’s go to actress for sci-fi roles, and Zoe Saldana may be adding another badass space chick to her resume. THR has learned the actress is in talks for the role of Gamora in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. Were the deal to go through, Saldana would join the already cast Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer).
Gamora is described as, “the green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. She also happens to be a skilled assassin.” Oh, she just so happens to be an assassin, how convenient. All of this sounds right up Saldana’s alley. She’s been blue-skinned and mo-capped for Avatar and will again for Avatar 2, she’s kicked ass in a mini-skirt as Uhura in Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, plus she’s been an assassin in Colombiana. Hell, I think they’ve found their girl, I hope she signs.
Guardian of the Galaxy is set to open August 1, 2014. What do you think of Zoe as Gamora?
