It was just yesterday that we got our first look at The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Green Goblin, in the form of a bust statue. Now, I know, it wasn’t very clear, and who wants to see a blurry picture of a sculpture of a movie character? That’s right, no one! Without further ado, check out this new screen from TASM2 featuring Gobby himself. (more…)
It’s been more or less confirmed that we’ll be getting three villains in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and while we’ve seen up close pictures of both Rhino and Electro, it seems as though Sony has been keeping a clear shot of the Goblin out of sight, even just barely showing him in the first official poster released a few months back. Well, thanks to a video detailing the collectible bust statue, we now have the best look of this new Goblin yet. ***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Last week Felicity Jones made mention of the Green Goblin appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when she said she was playing the, “Goblin’s girlfriend.” Not an enviable title, I’ll admit, but she was likely referring to a possible relationship her character has with Harry Osborn (Dane Dehaan), who we all know – at least I hope you do, otherwise SPOILER – eventually becomes the Green Goblin.
But this is all news to producer, Avid Arad. At San Diego Comic Con, I Am Rogue grabbed Arad for an interview and asked if there’s any truth to these rumors of the Green Goblin showing up in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel. Here’s what he had to say on the matter,
I think at this point, at this movie, we are not addressing it yet. She meets some of the players because she works for Oscorp and there’s no — I think she likes Harry, I think she cares for him, I think Harry is interested in models. I think whatever was in print out there really doesn’t represent what you’ll see in the movie or what you’ll see sometime in the future.
Soo… no Green Goblin. And no Green Goblin, ever? Seems that way. Was Jones jumping to the same conclusion many of us have that the inclusion of Harry Osborn automatically means he becomes the Green Goblin? Possibly, or she’s just confused about what’s really happening in this movie. Maybe she should read through that script one more time.
OR, Arad is trying to cover her slip-up and the appearance of the Green Goblin was supposed to be a big ‘ole secret? I mean, it’d make sense for him to show up at some point, what with Gwen Stacy being in this franchise and all.
You can check out video of the interview below the cut, but what do you Bastards think? Confused actress or top-secret cover-up?
So, uh, spoiler alert? Damn right!
For months we’ve been hearing about who’s in Amazing Spider-Man 2, and who might be playing them, and now, courtesy of Comic Book Movie, we get some cool details hot off the press. So spoilers revealed in…
Still here? You asked for it. Let’s take these one at a time
-Electro played by Jamie Foxx, will not being wearing the character’s traditional yellow and green outfit. Look for Foxx to sport something a little more stylish, like Electro’s Ultimate Spider-Man duds. Also, as if you didn’t know, Electro’s alterego Max Dillon will be gainfully employed as an employee at Oscorp.
-That Venom rumor? Forget about it! That morgue shot released last month wasn’t a Venom reference, but rather the morgue is where Dillon is taken after his “accident,” presumably the same “accident” that turns him into Electro.
-We know Chris Cooper‘s been cast as Norman Osborn, but there won’t be any Green Goblin in the film. What there will be is lots of foreshadowing, and that, at the beginning of the film at least, Norman won’t be cured and is still dying from his mysterious illness.
-And the biggest spoiler of all, sources confirm that Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will indeed being going to the giant comic book store in the sky by the film’s end, perhaps even sooner than that. In fact, sources are saying that Stone may not have a very big role in the film at all.
So Bastards, are you intrigued yet? Sound off below.
In a tweet earlier today director Marc Webb revealed who will be Peter Parker’s frenemy, Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Dane Dehaan, the star of this year’s pseudo-superhero flick, Chronicle, has been cast beating out other likely candidates Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Boyd Holbrook, Brady Corbet, and Alden Ehrenreich. Which is quite the lineup of young, Hollywood hunks, all of whom I’ve never heard of before. So congrats, Dane, because of your casting as the young Osborn and maybe, eventual Green Goblin, your existence is no longer oblivious to me.

Think they’ll play with the expected outcome and have Harry’s Green Goblin be the one who [REDACTED] Emma Stone‘s Gwen Stacy? It would surely cause one angst-ridden falling out between him and Andrew Garfield‘s Peter.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected for a May 2, 2014 release. Below the cut you’ll find the official press release for the casting.
What do you guys think?
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY YOU GLORIOUS NERDBASTARDS!
I usually got plenty of pinches on Saint Patrick’s Day because I don’t wear much green, (Insert Green Underwear joke here.) so you can imagine the trouble I had when asked to do a Saint Patrick’s Day inspired Top Ten List. Top Ten Fictional Irish Characters . . . too much work, Top Ten Irish Superheroes . . . boring, Top Ten Irish Legends . . . been there done that, then all those pinches came back in a flood of memory.
Click through the break to find out what the best and greenest of nerdy green things tickle this Nerdbastards fancy.
So! Now that the Spider-Man franchise is going back to Peter Parker’s teenage years and Sam Raimi and friends won’t even get to be part of it, what’s the movie going to be like? (more…)
