Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Word is making the Internet rounds that the first teasers for James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and James Mangold‘s Logan are only days away from making their way to the World-Wide Web. Trailer Track is reporting that both have been classified, or given a rating, and will soon make their way onto the Internet. Logan‘s production has been posting a lot of pictures lately, building up to the teaser release? (more…)
It doesn’t take much looking around to find someone who makes one wonder if there might be aliens from other planets living among us. Patrick Stewart stopped aging 30 years ago, Keith Richards can’t be killed be it drugs or fire, then there’s Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler who would fit right in an alien police line up. Combine that with Tyler’s recent comments while promoting the independent film Happy Birthday, in which he has a role, and it’s no wonder Tyler would want to appear in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy III, if there is one. Guardians of the Galaxy is a perfect comic book movie! It truly is one of the most unique and delightful films Marvel has created to date. It has all the heart, humor, heroics, and a dash of unhinged weirdness every good superhero movie needs. Its success is quite a marvel (pun intended) given its bizarre array of characters. A movie about a quick-witted earth man/pirate teaming up with an assassin, a destroyer out for revenge, an enhanced raccoon and a humanoid tree shouldn’t have worked… but it did.
A ton of excitement and hype surrounds the upcoming sequel. It’s a lot of pressure for director James Gunn and the rest of the cast and crew to match or exceed what the first film achieved but they’re doing it. In July, at San Diego Comic-Con, James Gunn brought his cast to Hall H, where they unleashed the first trailer that included an unexpected surprise. The footage revealed that Star-Lord’s dad was Ego the Living Planet, played by Kurt Russell.
This footage is not ready to be shown to the masses, as the visual effects were unfinished and not ready to be seen by the public. However, it sounds like Gunn is working on releasing something soon. Groot voice actor Vin Diesel, saw a new cut of footage shown at Comic Con. He took his reaction to Facebook Live, and well, you’ll see… (more…)
One of the most interesting parts of Guardians of the Galaxy was when the heroes made a pit stop in Knowhere. As soon as the audience is taken there, we get our first “Cantina Bar” moment, where we are introduced to all sorts of aliens and their cultures, showing you how vast this world is. Even the location of Knowhere is the head of a dead alien! Once we get through to we meet Gamora’s buyer, The Collector played remarkably well by actor Benicio Del Toro. In his lair, we have yet another Cantina Bar moment as he truly lives up to his name collecting various alien species as artifacts. The Collector’s lair offered a plethora of Easter Eggs for the Marvel Cosmic Universe. Some of those Easter Eggs include Cosmo The Space Dog, Howard The Duck, The Dark Elves, and The Chitauri. Other possible ones might include Adam Warlock, Beta-Ra Bill, and many others. The Collector also provided a great detail of exposition for the audience as to what the Infinity Stones are, their origin, and what they are capable of.
A feat of storytelling, soundtrack, CGI and cinema in general, Guardians of the Galaxy is a great example of just how brilliantly the more obscure stories from comic books can translate onto the big screen. When it first came out, it quickly became Marvel‘s third highest grossing film at the box office, after only The Avengers and Iron Man 3. It had all of the heart and soul of the comic in a way that managed to appeal to both existing fans and new viewers without causing much friction between the two groups. (more…)
Marvel Studios brought the house down at San Diego Comic Con as per usual (except for last year when they skipped). The excitement and anticipation was palpable, well, to the people the anyway. Everyone else had to live vicariously through Twitter and live blogs as Marvel presented for Black Panther, Thor Ragnarok, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Guardians of The Galaxy 2. The latter won the night. After Ravagers – including a fully costumed Michael Rooker as Yondu – took the stage, Marvel Studios showed the first footage for it. Fans went nuts. (more…)
Marvel Studios revealed during the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 portion of the panel the Logo for the upcoming movie as well as some cast details. If that wasn’t enough, they also revealed plans for an upcoming Disney California attraction. (more…)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the hotly-anticipated sequel to 2014’s surprising smash success from Marvel Studios, has just unveiled a new concept art from Andy Park. The sequel, which is again directed by James Gunn (known also for Slither and Super), is expected to continue the story of Star-Lord and compatriots defending the galaxy-at-large from Thanos (and his minion horde). The images show off Mantis, the newest member of the team’s screen adaptation, as well as a Baby Groot without his flowerpot; this new look at the team can be seen after the break below. (more…)
Ever since actress Sharon Stone announced that she had a “wee part” in a Marvel movie, it left fans speculating as to who she could actually be. Many had speculated purely for nostalgic reasons that she would reunite with her Basic Instinct cast mate Michael Douglas and be in Ant-Man and the Wasp as Hank Pym’s long lost wife Janet van Dyne. However, it has never been confirmed that she was going to appear in the Ant-Man sequel. Recently Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn posted on his “What We Shot Wednesdays” Facebook posts was a sketch of a face surrounded by fire. Combined with the fact that Sharon Stone also said in another interview that she will have heat powers, this added “fuel to the fire” that perhaps Stone will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 instead. So who on Earth (or elsewhere) could Stone be playing?
Some breaking news regarding Nathan Fillion has come out regarding his character in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2. Some of you may remember last year when Fillion’s name was closely associated to GoTG Vol. 1, when many people thought that he end up playing the character, Nova. Nova, of course was a member of the Nova Corps., the group that originally captured the Guardians in the in the first film. However, that turned out to be incorrect, and instead Fillion ended up voicing on of the inmates in the prison. And now today it’s been revealed who Fillion will play in the upcoming sequel. Warning, there are minor spoilers ahead.
