Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2
After a very successful theatrical run ($860.6 million USD!) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to household screens (legally) later this month. Of course this means that the James Gunn directed smarmy spaceman/talking tree/angry trash panda sequel will hit digital and physical video packed with bonus features and deleted scenes, right? Of course! and you can check out one of those features, the gag reel, here, Now! BELOW! (more…)
There is no denying that the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies released so far are some of not just Marvel‘s biggest hits, but some of the most exciting and brilliant films of the contemporary superhero genre. While there are only a handful of little tweaks here and there that even the pickiest nerd would dare to suggest, the creators themselves have hinted multiple times now about the little – and not so little – differences that they almost made. Almost always, these differences would’ve been incredible to see had they made it into the final cut. (more…)
For the past few weekends the majority of the free world appears to have made it’s way to the cinema to take in that smarmy spaceman/baby-tree/laser trash-panda epic, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still at the top of the box office and the James Gunn directed cosmic comicbook action/comedy has been universally regarded as both captivating and crowd pleasing. Well, except for one person apparently. (more…)
The wait is over. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 has been released to theaters everywhere. Joyous is the sound of fans and general audiences, singing the praise of another smash hit from director James Gunn and co. It’s true. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – albeit not as fresh and new as the first one and perhaps a little too big a spectacle for its own good – is way fun, warm (a lot of feels in this movie), and is everything going to the movies should be – a good time. While numbers are still rolling in, it saw $56 million at the box office on opening day, and is targeting a big $140 million weekend. Suffice to say, it delivered and is performing as well as everyone hoped it would. And no one is as thankful and as happy as the films director James Gunn.
Taking to Facebook earlier today, Gunn put out one of the sincerest and earnest thank you to fans, opening up about his time spent making the series, what influences both shaped and saved his life, and what box office success really means to him. (more…)
Families. They can really f— you up. Seriously. In the reel world, though, families can bring in massive amounts of box-office revenue, especially if the words “Fast” and/or “Furious” are part of the title. Contrary to popular belief, though, the Fast & the Furious franchise doesn’t have a monopoly on the word “family.” In only the second film – or first sequel – James Gunn’s (Super, Slither) Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t just borrow the word “family” from the Fast & the Furious franchise, it makes the concept of “family,” biological and otherwise, central to the entire plot. The misfits, outcasts, and criminals who make up the Guardians of the Galaxy squabble like real families, except their squabbles often happen at the absolute worst times, like when they’re trying to escape a race of golden-skinned, genetically modified, tech-hoarding elitists with a bizarre attachment to super-batteries and a major grudge against anyone who tries to steal them. In addition to being delicious (and equally bad for you – here, eat a weeks worth of sodium intake in one sitting!) Doritos brand chips are also known for their unique, and sometimes weird, marketing gimmicks. Take for example Dorito flavored taco shells at Taco Bell, which are delicious AF. Whereas the bad (the, I’m gonna die before I’m 30 if I eat this kind of bad): Dorito’s Loaded – a fried-cheese-style snack with a nacho cheese interior and a Dorito flavored breading/dusting on the exterior, sold at 711 convenient stores. When they’re not coming up with different ways to kill you with empty calories, they come up with things like the limited-edition Tostitos “Party Bag” equipped with a sensor that can detect alcohol on your breath. It also had an NFC chip that would hail you an Uber when you tapped your phone to it.
Now Dorito’s is doing something that really rocks. Literally. Doritos is teaming up with Marvel Studios to promote Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and fulfilling a need you never knew you wanted. (more…)
With Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 set to premiere next weekend, all eyes have seemed to shift towards the next big Marvel project. It was learned earlier that the fourth installment of the Avengers series will be shot separately from Avengers: Infinity War. However, what has many people buzzing is how Marvel is keeping it’s lips tight regarding the title of the movie. But it seems like Zoe Saldana may have missed the memo regarding staying hush hush about the title because she may have inadvertently let it slip during a red carpet interview for the GOTG Vol. 2 premiere. What could she have said that has some fans raising their eyebrows? Instead of calling it Avengers 4, you might want to start calling it by the actual title – Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set to kick off another flurry of superhero blockbusters (and possibly be the biggest/best yet if the early word is to be believed,) the films lead dancer/80’s music enthusiast, Chris Pratt, had a few things to say about what the other guys (Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe) are doing, and (spoiler) it kinda sounds like he might not be as critical as die hard fans might want him to be.
Yes, while the fan community seems to continue to divide, Star-Lord himself joins his GotG director, James Gunn (and arguably the majority of the movie going public,) in enjoying BOTH DC and Marvel. Pratt gave praise to the DCEU films while speaking with io9, granted he did have one very valid critique about one film in particular. (more…)
That’s a rhetorical headline obviously, since of course you do.
When we last saw Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) he had finally unwrapped the gift his dying mother had given him to discover that it was a cassette tape, but not just any ordinary one. This was Awesome Mix Vol. 2, the follow up to what is undoubtedly them most durable string of magnetic media in the known galaxy since he had been listening to it on repeat for past 26 years or so, Awesome Mix Vol. 1.
So, what music does this mythical mix tape contain? Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, has finally unveiled the track listing for the the films upcoming sequel and it is absolutely perfect. (more…)
While James Gunn didn’t pull a Picard yell, he did set the record straight on how many post credit scenes there are in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Check out his tweet below correcting a Screen Rant Tweet saying there are only four. Wait… only four, did we really just say that? It’s like the end of The Lord of the Rings series where there are four or five endings that keep leading to another ending. Everytime you got ready to get up it kept going and going. (more…)
