With the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War so close, we are all dying to get any hint of a clue as to the plot we’re all on hyper-alert for anything that remotely feels like a firm detail. And in the latest TV spot, there is a split-second flash of Iron Man and Star-Lord looking quite tense.
Guardians of the Galaxy
With Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 barely a week old, obviously it’s too early to be given a definitive release date for the third film in the trilogy. Besides, Marvel has tons of other superhero films to worry about over the next few years before Guardians gets another go, with Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon and all the storylines in orbit around it that need resolving before the big, explosive climax. But, let’s face it, Guardians of the Galaxy came out of nowhere and slammed audiences around the world right in the heart. (more…)
James Gunn Thanks Fans For The Success Of ‘Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2.’ – Reminds Us That “We Are Groot”
The wait is over. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 has been released to theaters everywhere. Joyous is the sound of fans and general audiences, singing the praise of another smash hit from director James Gunn and co. It’s true. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – albeit not as fresh and new as the first one and perhaps a little too big a spectacle for its own good – is way fun, warm (a lot of feels in this movie), and is everything going to the movies should be – a good time. While numbers are still rolling in, it saw $56 million at the box office on opening day, and is targeting a big $140 million weekend. Suffice to say, it delivered and is performing as well as everyone hoped it would. And no one is as thankful and as happy as the films director James Gunn.
Taking to Facebook earlier today, Gunn put out one of the sincerest and earnest thank you to fans, opening up about his time spent making the series, what influences both shaped and saved his life, and what box office success really means to him. (more…)
For a movie that is so broadly accessible to viewers of all ages, there is plenty in Guardians of the Galaxy and its recent sequel that appeals to the baser instinct of many hot blooded adults. Front man Chris Pratt went from being the awkward, chubby sidekick that was Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to a smoking hot muscle-bound beast for this role. If he’s too lean for your taste, there’s always the throbbing bulk of Dave Bautista‘s Drax. The pair share the billing with easily one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, Zoe Saldana, who is no less stunning for being painted green from head to toe. (more…)
With Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 inching ever closer with every passing minute, tension is getting high and fans are falling over themselves to get involved in the pre-movie hype. Despite being one of the superhero movies that doesn’t go out of its way to blatantly sell merchandise, it would be a foolish idea on the part of the studio not to give us something. Being targeted more towards adults than kids, though, the merch they do come up with has to be of a far superior quality than the tat you can get away with giving to children. (more…)
If your Monday wasn’t already dark enough, this Marvel into DC trailer treatment for Guardians of the Galaxy should do the trick. It’s easy to imagine, can’t you just hear Jack Nicholson as Marvin Udall in As Good As It Gets saying, “I think of a movie, then I take away levity and whimsy.” Check out the trailer below, just hide any knives or sharp office instruments first. Volume 2 is almost here and Volume 3 has already been confirmed and Guardians of the Galaxy is easily one of Marvel‘s most surprising and successful cinematic ventures. Its popularity can be attributed to so many things. It is well cast and it has a great sense of humour and fans around the world fell madly in love with the soundtrack. It certainly helps that writer and director James Gunn treats the movie as a project of passion. He makes an effort to ensure that everything about it top quality, down to the tiniest and most missable Easter egg, and is never done just to pay lip service to fans or appease investors or advertisers. Given how close we finally are to seeing Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 finally hit screens, there is still a lot we don’t know about it. A pleasant change to the increasingly common trope of giving away an entire movie in the space of a minute long trailer, the build up to the new film is getting pretty tense as the studio slowly drips fans around the world snippets of information about what to expect. With just over a week to go, they’ve given us enough to get really excited about the movie – if you weren’t already – with plenty left shrouded in mystery that there are bound to be a ton of surprises in the cinema. Some eagle eyed fans thought they’d spotted Adam Warlock‘s famous cocoon in the Collector’s lair in Guardians of the Galaxy, and well, they were right. Director James Gunn later confirmed the cocoon to be Warlock’s. Gunn, however, had also said it wasn’t put there as a conscious decision to tease a future appearance – he just used it to dress the set and have it serve as one of those random easter eggs. While there were no initial plans to include Adam Warlock into the MCU, the character did eventually become part of Gunn’s plans.
It’s come out, that while scripting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Warlock was a big part of the story. (more…)
With less than 17 days, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will hit theaters. The sequel to the 2014 Marvel Cinematic Universe surprise hit is expected to make a killing it’s opening weekend (minimum $150 million are some projections) and pretty much kickstarts the summer movie season. One very interesting thing about the movie is that James Gunn and the production crew have managed to keep most of the plot well hidden as most of the trailers did not give away “the whole” plot. We know a few details here and there for the film: Ego The Living Planet (Kurt Russell), Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and The Ravagers will be in the film. But other than that, it’s an open book. There were rumors that Sylvester Stallone will be in the film in an unspecified role. Some suspected he would be an extra Ravager, and other rumors had him playing a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy from the 31st Century (probably Vance Astro). It looks like we now know who he may possibly be.
