While Ron Howard, the new director of the untitled Star Wars Han Solo movie, is not widely known for his social media savvy, he’s setting new records for must-follow posts thanks to peak interested in the beleaguered production. Howard replaced directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller on this Star Wars Story in June when they were fired despite the fact that reportedly there were just a few weeks left in production, so Howard had to carry on, carry over, and carry under all those fan expectations in the wake of such surprising and disappointing news. But you know what? He says don’t worry. (more…)
After the abrupt departure of the directing team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were ousted after four and a half months of shooting by Lucasfilm over creative and tonal differences on set for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ron Howard was high on everyone’s list of replacements. Word around the Internet is that Howard will be confirmed as director today. (more…)
Some disappointing news for Star Wars fans, today. In an announcement made earlier today, it seems that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have parted ways with Lucasfilm over “creative difference” with the upcoming (and still untitled) Han Solo movie. However, despite the set back, the scheduled release of Memorial Day 2018 is still goal. It’ll be interesting to see how long that date will stick, and, more importantly, how long it will take to find replacements for Lord and Miller. This isn’t just any ordinary film – it’s quite the undertaking.
There’s a new photo from the set of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story floating around the Internet which just might be the first look at where Han Solo came from. The Spanish site Canarias7 certainly thinks so. Check out the set picture below. (more…)
With more than a year to go until it’s release, the new Han Solo film made some major headlines today with news that comes straight from the top of Disney. The news is so big that not only does it come with a big spoiler warning, but it can’t even be written in this opening paragraph. Let’s just say that at this point, Star Wars fans are going to like it or will be letting everyone on their social media feeds know exactly how they feel. If you’re ready for some awesome news or utter disappointment, then read on ahead.
As we are all by now aware; after certain events in The Force Awakens, Han Solo ain’t making any more Kessel runs (no matter how many parsecs you give him). This doesn’t mean that his legend ends here though. On May 25th, 2018, a slightly less grey Han Solo will make his triumphant return to the big screen, in a spin-off helmed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Han Solo would, of course, be nowhere without his comrades in (usually hairy) arms, and a new potential cast member is in talks to join the production. It’s one that we never would have expected to see fighting side-by-side with Solo, but we have to admit to having our interest piqued. (more…)
You might have felt a disturbance in the Force this morning as director Chris Miller dug deep to announce the beginning of production on Han Solo A Star Wars Story with a classic Han Solo pun. The spin-off movie stars Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Woody Harrelson (Garris Shrike?), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Amelia Clarke in an unrevealed role. We can only hope that this first bit of pun-ery will continue in the movie itself. Han Solo was often very funny in the Star Wars movies after all. Check out the announcement below. (more…)
From Mister Miyagi to Master Splinter, a good mentor is a crucial component of any budding young hero’s origin tale. After all, whose death is going to inspire them to defeat their enemies if not that creepy old guy who took an unnatural interest in a young boy and let them train in their basement instead of going to school? Frankly, if you want to make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, you’re going to need a good coach in your corner. Fortunately for a young Han Solo, Phil Lord and Chris Miller may have just found the perfect surrogate father for their upcoming Star Wars spinoff. (more…)
With the success of the first “Non-Saga” Star Wars film, Rogue One, Lucasfilm is starting to look towards their next spin-off, the untitled Han Solo film. The upcoming film will focus on a younger Han Solo before he teamed up with Luke, Leia, and the gang to save the galaxy. When he was just a smuggler dealing with the underworld of the Star Wars universe. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and will star Alden Ehrenreich as the younger Han Solo and Donald Glover as a younger Lando Calrissian. The film is set to start filming soon for a planned May 2018 release date. However, it looks like that date may be changing.
The development of the standalone Star Wars anthology movies has come with it a great many questions, and not just about content. Coming up on the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in just a couple more weeks, one of the biggest questions fans have been thinking about in regards to the film is “Will it have a opening crawl?” The crawl has opened every Star Wars movie released so far, even the 2008 animated Clone Wars movie, but Rogue One, as we learned today, will break with tradition. According to the head of Lucasfilm herself, Rogue One will have no crawl. (more…)
