This NerdBastard will always think of Blackadder when Hugh Laurie shows up. Laurie is just that good when it comes to comedy. Of course he’s pretty damn good at the serious stuff too, just watch a couple of House episodes.
The Internet Rumor Mill is spinning with word that Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the head villain in the upcoming Jose PadilhaRobocop reboot, the role of Omni Corp CEO. Laurie joins an already impressive cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Robocop is the story of Detroit police officer Alex Murphy (Kinnaman), murdered while on duty and remade into an unstoppable cyborg of the law. Laurie’s character is described as the extremely wealthy head of Omni Corp, the company that creates Robocop for their own benefit.
Oldman is already locked down to play the scientist who creates Robocop, a new character to the Robocop franchise. Cornish signed on last week to play Alex Murphy’s wife, who initially believes him to be dead, while Jackson will play powerful TV mogul Pat Novak.
Robocop is expected to hit theaters August 9, 2013.
To be honest, when I heard The Munsters were being rebooted for modern audiences, I cringed. Seriously, is no classic property safe?!? But the more I read and especially after this first look at the design for the new 1313 Mockingbird Lane I’m getting a little excited to see what the Bryans pull off. That would be Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer and their re-imagining is called Mockingbird Lane. This version will be a little darker, a little edgier but still a family show. As you can guess from the name change their trying to avoid too many comparisons with the 1960s television show, but I mean, how can we not compare the two? What they need to focus on is making a good, updated version that still pays tribute to the campy roots, and from what you’ll read here, I think they’re going to succeed.

Okay, so almost everyone will own up to the fact that the Tomb Raider films with Angelina Jolie pretty much blew and most definitely could foresee a reboot happening. However, recently it has been rumored that the hottie from House, Olivia Wilde may be playing the lead role of Lara Croft in the upcoming films.
Apparently, Wilde’s performance in Tron is what sources say made them want her for the role (are we sure it wasn’t that suit?). In all seriousness though, I really dig Wilde and most definitely think she would make a great Laura Croft. She’s a great combination of sexy, sass, and action star to pull it off.
So why exactly make a reboot of Tomb Raider? Possibly to salvage the name and finally make some good movies to represent it. It is reported that,
“This would be a far darker and more serious Tomb Raider movie, the idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men.
Although Wilde’s rep is denying the rumor but there is nothing solid saying for sure that Wilde is not set to play the role. So do you guys think Wilde would make for one badass Tomb Raider??
It’s the last Tuesday for the month of August and even though summer is coming to a close, NerdBastards got you covered for DVD Tuesday. Math was hard for us communication majors; we HATE numbers. We sure as hell love numbers as names, though. Check out these nine characters whose mommies, directors and mad scientists christened them with names fit for an Uno deck. (more…)
I told you I’d become the Lego beat writer (Exhibits A and B). It’s ok, though, because I get to bring you footage of the groovy life-sized Lego house.
Would you live in a Lego house with James May?
This year, British guy James May decided he was going to build a Lego house that was big enough for him to live in and also functional. He filmed some stuff about it, spent the night there… and then watched as his labor of love was demolished because no one would buy it.
Here’s some tv footage where May prepares to spend his first night in the house.
