First, let’s get the obvious out of the way, HBO has renewed Game of Thrones for a fourth season. As if we had any doubt. The series has been breaking records both for the network and with its illegal downloads, HBO would be insane not to renew. Here’s the word from their official press release,

According to early data, GAME OF THRONES’ season three premiere March 31 on HBO topped the series’ highs, with record viewership for both the 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) airing and gross audience across the three plays. At 9:00 p.m., it averaged 4.4 million viewers, outperforming (+4%) the previous high of 4.2 million viewers from last season’s finale. GAMES OF THRONES improved 13% in comparison to last season’s premiere of 3.9 million viewers. Across the three plays for the night, 6.7 million viewers tuned in, surpassing last season’s debut night of 6.3 million viewers by 7%. Last season, GAME OF THRONES had an average gross audience (HBO linear plays + HBO On Demand/HBO GO + DVR) of 11.6 million viewers.

That’s a lot of viewers. And again, let’s not forgot all those pirating the premiere. Torrent Freak reports once the first Game of Thrones torrent hit the net 163,088 were people were sharing that single file. And it’s been growing ever since.

All of the nerds and parents of nerds (and even the non-nerds) out there have spent tons and tons of moolah on Star Wars stuff.  A portion of our incomes should be redubbed Star Wars money ’cause, well, that’s just how shit works.  There’s food, there’s booze, there’s caffeine, there’s nerdy shit and then we have the Star Wars stuff.  Pretty simple, really.

Check out this infographic outlining basically how much us bastards have spent on this franchise.

Apparently about $23 billion of the overall $33 billion that Star Wars has taken in came solely from the original releases.  The additional $10 billion came about after the 2005 release of Revenge of the Sith, $3 billion of which was due to merchandise sales following the revival (Darth Vader is the most popular).

Never mind that the first three had more time to make more money, the break down makes a lot of sense; according to David Tennant, “three of them were good”.  We all know which three he’s talking about.

I’m just going to lay this out there, DO NOT WATCH THE CLIP IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED! It’s so obvious, right? Good, because I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about, “OMG. SPOILERS. I HATE YOU.” It’s clearly marked and no one’s forcing you to hit play. I haven’t even watch the clip, and if I can resist while I’m here writing the articled about, I think you can too. But I know there are those of you out there who are just itching see anything from The Avengers, and you want to see it now. So by all means, give it a watch. Whether or not you watched the super spoiler above I think you’ll really dig this infographic. Created by Comic Book Movie’s own Patrick Casey Bennett this timeline is a collection of all known events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a perfect way to brush up on your Marvel Movie knowledge before The Avengers opens May 4th. Major kudos to Bennet for this true labor of love.

The infographic is spoiler free for The Avengers, but obviously it contains lots of info about all the films leading up to it. Make sure you click to embiggen, and just in case you still can’t read the text I’ve added it below the cut.

ABOVE: Ever wonder what Super Mario Bros. would be like if instead it would be Super Mario Sisters. Knowing the Japanese and the love of a girl in uniform with a skirt I’m kind of surprised we haven’t seen a gender-swapped edition. Nintendo, get on that!  Enji Night would make such a cute cover girl. (Fashionably Geek)

How To Survive A Fridge Nuking, The Infographic

Few movie scenes have caused as much nerd lament as the infamous Indy taking a magic fridge ride to escape the blast of a full on nuclear explosion. Yes, George Lucas has done his best to prove to us all (and Steven Spielberg) that he put it in in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull because it was totally and completely scientifically possible. Did we listen? NO!

Well, maybe this will help sooth some nerd nerves. The Geek Twins have used the awesome power of physics and infographics to illustrate  how feasible such a feat would be.

These are some fantastic reinterpretations of Batman’s most villainous gal pals, Poison Ivy  and Harley Quinn. You could call them steampunk, or Victorian, or saloon girl, or a mix of all three, but either they are fabulous and sexy. (Geek Tyrant)
