Script Has Been Written For “Kung Fury” Sequel

Kung Fury mural

Kung Fury,” the Kickstarter-backed, 80s throwback, action/comedy, which became a hit sensation, is ready for Round 2. The half hour short film, a creation made in the basement of director David Sandberg, incorporated several green screen shots (along with some mad editing skills) to create an exciting and enjoyable flick destined to be a cult classic. Sandberg took to social media in announcing the film’s one year anniversary of its release on his ‘Laser Unicorns‘ Instagram page.

In his post, the short film’s writer not only celebrates the movie’s anniversary, but takes the opportunity to reveal that a sequel is in the works. The accompanying picture shows the finished script of the as-of-yet untitled follow-up to the throwback action-comedy romp tightly wrapped with the hero of the film’s recognizable red bandana. When we last left Alice and friends at the end of Resident Evil: Retribution, they were brought before Wesker at the White House in order to make one last stand in the name of humanity. From there, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will begin, but the more compelling question is, where will it end? It would be insane to think that everything would end happily ever after, but it’s at least possible that some of the characters will survive till the bitter end. Might Alice be one of them? Might the following picture released on social media be a clue as to the fate of everyone’s favorite zombie fighter not named Daryl Dixon? (more…)

I guess the shooting of X-Men: Apocalypse are now days of future past. Huh? Okay, so bad puns aside, yes, it seems that shooting on the sixth X-Men movie has officially concluded, and, as per modern tradition, it was announced on social media, specifically director Bryan Singer‘s Instagram account. The final [production] glimpse proves to be just as mysterious and vexing as the previous set pictures, featuring a massive practical set. It looks like the last day of shooting was no simple scene either, but again we ask the question: What is going on? Where are they? Who’s involved? And what does Apocalypse mean for the X-Men series going forward? (more…)

Lots of celebrities are also fans. They have their dream role, and they do sometimes get a chance to use their tremendous platform to make a case for their casting. The latest person to use social media to try and strong arm casting agents is Ronda Rousey, the MMA superstar who recently said in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) that she’d like a crack at a particular Marvel superhero. “I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel,” she wrote. She meant Captain Marvel, who was promoted from Ms. Marvel a couple of years ago, and given Rousey’s stature, presence and long blonde hair, she would definitely be perfect for the part. And it seems that some artistically minded fans agree.  (more…)

If you have a name like En Sabah Nur, you better believe that your decorating theme will be Egyptian. In the case of X-Men: Apocalypse though it also helps that the titular main villain is from Ancient Egypt. Despite the fact that he survived multiple millennia of history, Apocalypse still likes a little piece of home, even in the 1980s. A new photo from the set of Apocalypse reveals a look at En Sabah Nur’s lair, and from the look of it, it’s no X-Mansion. Of course, the first look at Apocalypse himself was less that seriously received by fans, but all things considered, you’re probably going to like his homebase. (more…)

We all know that Olivia Munn is playing Psylocke in the upcoming mutant movie X-Men: Apocalypse, but what are some of the distinguishing things about that particular X-Woman? Well, she’s got telepathic powers complete with a “thought knife” she can use to directly invade the thoughts in your head. She’s an expert martial artist. Her brother is Captain Britain. And, perhaps most strangely, she’s an English woman trapped in an Asian woman’s body. Psylocke, AKA: Elizabeth Braddock, does have another trait that sets her apart from the pack, a certain follicle affectation that immediately makes her noticeable as the X-Men’s tertiary telepathic character. So know that it begs the question, what is Olivia Munn hiding under that hood. (more…)

It’s happening! It’s really happening! I didn’t believe it until I saw the picture below, but after nearly 20 years of watching, and waiting, and discussion, and rumor, filming on Independence Day 2 is finally underway. Picking up some 20 years after the original, ID4-2 will reunite many members of the cast of the first film with an eager group of brand new actors in order to fight the next wave of alien scum ready to invade the Earth. Obviously, spoilers and details are scarce in what’s actually a celebratory reunion picture of producer Dean Devlin and his star Jeff Goldblum, but for those that cynically thought this day would never come, it’s proof: This is actually happening! x-men_angel

What’s this?! Angel? Wasn’t that character introduced in X-Men: The Last Stand played by Ben Foster? Who cares?! I guess we’re retconning that thing right out of existence now because thanks to some production act released by director Bryan Singer, it looks like Warren Worthington III is going to popping up 80s style in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. The art work is the latest reveal concerning the next X-film which begins shooting in Montreal next month, but it also has some interesting implications on the franchise and some interesting references back to the comic book. From the looks of things in the art work, matters aren’t looking too good for Angel, but if you know the comic books, that doesn’t mean it can’t get worse… (more…)

Exciting times, people! X-Men: Apocalypse inches closer to the start of production, and the news just keeps on coming. You might recall how active that director Bryan Singer was during the production of X-Men: Days of Future Past, offering glimpses and glimmers at the movie through social media. Well, it seems as if he’s at it again with the coming Apocalypse, showing off some of the construction presently happening on set, and a very familiar set at that. Meanwhile, one of the new cast members is talking about her new role, or rather playing the younger version of an old role that goes right back to the very first X-Men film. (more…)

johnboyega_starwars

So what did you do this past Friday? Maybe you relaxed, maybe you got up early to do some shopping, or maybe you had to go to  work in order to service those shoppers. But then again, maybe you woke up super early and kept refreshing the iTunes page until the teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was posted. Of course, the first image of that teaser, which I’m sure you know having watched it no less than two dozen times by now, is of Stromtrooper John Boyega looking like he forgot his blaster back on the Star Destroyer. But wait a minute, there ain’t no black Stormtroopers?! Yes, some people have apparently made that observation and lost their proverbial $#!% about it. Well, Boyega has an answer for that too. (more…)
