With print media being a lost relic, DC has taken a bold step towards the future. Announcing that users of the iPad, Kindle and Nook will now be able to download all DC comics past, present and future. Prior to this you had a very limited selection available through Apple’s iBookstore, the Kindle Store, and Nook store.
A DC rep had this to say;
” As e-readers and tablets continue to explode in popularity it’s important for us to offer consumers convenience and choice in how they download digital comics and graphic novels and these new distribution deals with the top three e-bookstores do just that,” said Jim Lee, co-publisher, DC Entertainment. “We’re very excited to work with Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble to bring bestselling DC Comics and Vertigo periodicals to their e-bookstores.”
While we are excited that the same books that made us happy in childhood will now reach a younger audience, we are saddened that an entire generation may never know the distinctly musty smell of a comic shop, the awkward glances peering from atop a comic, plastic sleeve protectors, and…. We might need just a minute.
Psych, is an American comedy/drama mystery television series, about a man who works for the Santa Barbra Police Department as their resident psychic. The only hitch is that Shawn Spence (James Roday) isn’t really a psychic, he just relies on his highly tuned sense of observation to solve mysteries. With his best friend Burton “Gus” Guster (Dule Hill) and his father Henry (Corbin Bernson) the series has lasted into it’s 6th season, keen senses and all. It’s one of my favorite shows! It somehow combines youthful thirty-ish banter between buddies with Monk-ish sleuthing. The witty jokes, sharp dialog and endless obscure 80′s references make it a real delight.
So, I have a nerdy giveaway I would love to share with you, surrounding the premier of Psych Season 6.5 on the USA Network, on Leap Day, 2/29. There will be one grand prize winner of a Psych Arcade(pictured below) and the three runner-ups win signed Season 5 Psych DVDs!

Let’s be honest, being Batman is hard. While you’re out on the town investigating, looking for clues you can get jumped by gangs of roving thugs, or worse, be distracted by saving some chick the newest super villain’s tied up some 100 feet in the air. Then you have to try and solve the Riddler’s stupid riddles while your head is pounding from the fire extinguisher some douche threw at you. Sometimes it’s nice to have a little help. Thank you, Batman: Arkham City Official Map App.
Available on all iOS devices the $2.99 app can not only help you find your way around Arkham City, but also, “Find every Riddler Trophy for Batman & Catwoman,” “Solve every Riddle,” and “Track your progress as you bag more than 350 collectibles.” I mean, only if you’d like a little assistance. You are the world’s greatest detective and solving such things on your own is breeze.
The neat thing about science fiction is that sometimes it becomes science fact. Back in the 1960’s, when the captain of the star ship Enterprise, James T. Kirk, needed to telecommunicate, all he had to do was flip open a palm sized black clam shell device and start talking, sound familiar? Of course there are some basic differences, to the best of my knowledge you can’t use a Star Trek communicator to send pictures of your wang to an ex-girlfriend, but you have to admit its pretty close.
When Star Trek debuted in the 1960′s it exposed people all around the world to a bright future full of high tech gadgets. 45 Years, 6 different television series and 11 movies later, Star Trek has undoubtedly had a large impact on the world around us, inspiring scientist and inventors to develop the technology that shaped their childhood. Sortable.com has taken a look at some of the technology in Star Trek and how close we are to having that technology in every day life.
Oh sure, Star Trek may have predicted tablet computers and swanky jumpsuits, but why don’t I have sexy green dancing girls? come on, it’s the 21st century, damn it. Daddy wants to get his green freak on…

With as much drama as there was in Tennant’s Tardis a sitcom parody couldn’t have been far behind. Rose loved him, Martha loved him, Jack, umm, just wanted to do him. And whose Donna, Phoebe? (TheMarySue)

Angry Birds Pork Rinds are the ultimate in high protein snacking. Since the only other green meat we’ve encountered has been a breakfast meat paired with green eggs, we’re calling these “The Other Green Meat.” Much like green ham, you can eat Angry Birds Pork Rinds here or there. You can eat them anywhere. You can eat them with Red Leader. You can eat them from a bird feeder. You can eat them on a date. You can eat them on a Shirt Plate!
These crispy delicacies were painstakingly collected from the wreckage of exploded green pig flesh by the Pork Remnants Collectors Union 1337. After a bath in a vat of boiling oil, they are seasoned to perfection and packaged in snack sized bags. Break one open and taste the crisp, salty, savory flavor that only green pigs can produce. A truly succulent treat for the discerning mobile gamer.
So when we spotted this amazing Apple Store Playset from PLAYMOBIL™ we were admittedly in a bit of a conundrum. On the one hand, it’s a product designed for children much younger than ourselves. On the other hand, it’s a tiny representation of the store which sells us all the shiny Apple goodies we can’t resist. Then we noticed that the PLAYMOBIL™ iStore includes amazingly tiny iPhones, Macbooks, and iPads. Our resolve began to waver. A quick peek at the miniature Genius Bar and we were feeling a bit woozy. Then we saw the tiny Steve Jobs presenting in the Keynote Theater on the top floor and that was it. Our wallets popped out faster than you can say Jonathan Ive and we plunked down whatever money was needed to own this amazing playset.
Of course, once we had the playset, we had to get the optional Line Pack to simulate our own exciting Apple product launches. Since it comes with a tiny Woz on a tiny Segway, it was a no-brainer. We decided that Apple & PLAYMOBIL™ together is the most unlikely and awesome collaboration ever. It changes everything.
Welcome gaming bastards to another edition of G.R.O.W. This is NerdBastards weekly video game release list where we give y’all a heads up on what was released for the consoles and PC (and sometimes the Mac). We also cover downloadable titles as well.
This weeks release list is STACKED folks! As not only do we have quite the list for home release but the download side as well. From an arcade wrestling game to one of Koei Tecmo’s button masher, to a tactical shooter that features a known name in the title to a sequel from a cult series, there is pretty much something for everyone. And the same can be said about the downloads.
So what are y’all waiting for? Check after the jump to see if there is anything coming out that will make your wallets cry!
If you own a smartphone and iPad or it’s newer, hipper brother the iPad2 then you must have played the sensational Angry Birds game. Launching a small army of birds into wooden structures to murder helpless green pigs for points, it’s just so addicting. That’s where the trouble comes in, if the game is so addicting it starts to affect those things that are part of you everyday life. Your job, your friends, even your love life (if you have one) takes a dive faster then you can toss those colorful little birds. Oh great and powerful Steve Jobs, isn’t there someone who can save us from this crutch in our lives? Thankfully, this is where former world champion boxer Mike Tyson comes in.
He bit a man’s ear off, you’ll listen.
At least this is over quickly, you should have seen the idea for the 12 rounds with Tyson. Amazing turn around but too many broken wrists. I kid, he’s a good sport (don’t kill me Mr.Tyson, please).
Ladies and Gents, get ready to play as Marty as Telltale Games has finally revealed the release date for the upcoming episodic Back to the Future: The Game. That release date is December 22nd for the PC and MAC. PS3 and iPad users will have to wait just a little bit to get their time traveling action on.
Also, if you pre-order the game over at Telltale Games’ site, you get special access to a forum where you get to talk to the game developers, you get a special collectors DVD (in which you pay for the shipping and handling), and also get Puzzle Agent for free. Not only that, every pre-order will donate $1 to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
So to make us even want the game more, we get a clip about Doc Brown and how the game will give us an origin story of Marty meeting up with a 17 year old Doc. Check the video out for details as well as Christopher Lloyd talking about the character. Can you imagine it now, having both young and old Doc screaming “Marty! Marty!” I think my brain may explode.
