Iron Fist

It seems weird to think that just a few months ago, the rumor mill was churning that Iron Fist the series was going to be abandoned by Marvel Studios and Netflix in favor of a Punisher show. But things are moving quickly now on the fourth Netflix series from Marvel; the show has it’s hero played by Finn Jones of Game of Thrones fame, and now it has its villain. David Wenham, perhaps most famous for playing Faramir in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and for being one of the 300 in the Zack Snyder film, will be playing the villainous Harold Meachum in Marvel’s next eventual hit. Netflix‘s IronFist has cast the second half of the Daughters of the Dragon. Simone Missick was cast as Misty Knight in the upcoming first season of Luke Cage and now Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Colleen Wing for the fourth Netflix Marvel series Iron Fist. That makes at least two actors from Game of Thrones in the series, Henwick and Finn Jones as the lead Danny Rand, could more be on the horizon? (more…)

Following up on the news that Luke Cage will be streamed far and wide this coming September, a key Marvel Entertainment figure is now talking about that show’s follow-up, Iron Fist. Of course, the journey of Iron Fist has not been a smooth one, as work progressed steadily on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, Iron Fist seemed to be stuck in neutral, unable to even make it off the drawing board. At one point there was even a rumor that Marvel and Netflix were going to scrap Iron Fist for a series based on The Punisher. But now that there’s forward motion on Iron Fist, we’re being told to expect something, ahem, different when it finally debuts. (more…)

Netflix is on a superhero roll lately, what with their much-vaunted Daredevil, Jessica Jones and now the upcoming Iron Fist TV series on the air. After wallowing in obscurity in the 80’s and 90’s, Danny Rand (played by Finn Jones) is about to bring a can of butt-kicking down on superhuman crime and he definitely won’t be going at it alone, if the recent reports coming in are anything to go by…

Word is making the Internet rounds that Marvel has found their Iron Fist lead in Game of Thrones star Finn Jones. Earlier this year Luke Cage lead Mike Colter teased:

The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is.

Now that Jones is cast, we can start to wonder when he’ll make his Marvel debut. (more…)

We’ve had Daredevil and season two is coming, Jessica Jones will be available to stream in a couple of weeks, and Luke Cage is now cast and ready for production. But aren’t we missing one? There were four superhero series that Marvel Studios agreed to produce for Netflix, plus the Defenders miniseries that would combine those four heroes into one team. As you may have noticed though, there’s been precious little news about Iron Fist, like who will play him, or even who’s running the show, and now, there’s a rumor out there that there will be no Iron Fist. Instead, for the fourth member of the Defenders, get ready to be punished. (more…)

Frank Whaley Joins Netflix’s ‘Luke Cage’ Cast

Word is making its way around the Internet today that Frank Whaley has joined the cast of Netflix‘s upcoming Marvel series Luke Cage. Whaley is another great addition to the cast that includes Mike Colter in the lead as Luke Cage, Alfre Woodard as Minetta, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, and Rosario Dawson reprises her Daredevil role. There’s a lot of talent in this cast and Whaley’s addition continues the trend. What role might Whaley be playing? (more…)

The Marvel Comic Universe features a plethora of characters – some that would translate well off the colored pages and onto a movie or TV screen, and some that wouldn’t.  The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently plugging away at full steam, and after a rocky start with the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Marvel’s TV offerings seem to be hitting their stride as well.  Of course, both the film and television productions are all part of the larger MCU, which begs the simple-sounding yet very-convoluted questions: what characters will be added, and how? (more…)

To paraphrase the great 90s philosopher Forrest Gump, Life is like a Marvel Studios production, you never know what well-known character you’re going to get: Loki cosplays Captain America in Thor: The Dark World, Thor’s Lady Sif pops up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reference is embedded in Daredevil, and so on… But things have been kept pretty separate but equal in the realms of Marvel’s movie and TV division, although there could be some mingling of “church” and “state” on the small screen soon in the form of a pretty big cameo on Netflix’s Iron Fist. That’s right fans, let’s just say that Doctor Strange might not be the first chance you get to see Doctor Strange. (more…)

With Netflix‘s first Marvel Studios series, Daredevil, chugging along like a well-oiled machine in principal photography, it’s interesting to note that we’ve heard rather little about the other three series in development. Along with Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Jessica Jones is being developed as a series by Twilight screenwriter (she wrote for Dexter too! Don’t hold it against her) Melissa Rosenberg. It seems that Jessica Jones will be next series to go before the cameras, and according to one source, the casting contest as to who will play the superhero-turned-private eye is down to one of four actresses. So who are these fantastic four actresses who are rumored to be the contenders to play Jessica? Let’s take a look, and proctor the possibilities of their casting. (more…)
