ABOVE: Because no super heroine is complete until they’ve had their chance at becoming an old 40s-stye pin-up model, Ant Lucia has put together these great works of art. Definitely the kind of thing that you could hang on your wall and not feel like a (complete) dork. (more…)

ABOVE: Ever wondered what would happen if some of your favorite super heroes and villains were forced to pose the way the typical female character is? Some folks over at The Line is Drawn did a redo on some female-centric comic covers and brought the sexy back for the dudes. (more…)

November 23rd is less than two weeks away, and in these 11 days leading to the Doctor Who 50th anniversary we here at Nerd Bastard’s want to share with you a few of our favorite Whovian things. Now in single digits, “The Day of the Doctor” is only nine days away! Yup, nine, as in that Doctor up there on the left in these paintings from the incredible James Hance. Probably best known for Wookiee the Chew, James also has some of the best Doctor Who art around. (more…)

Each and every week we scour the Internet for nothing but the best in nerdy art. We leave no digital stone unturned, we poke and prod every nook and cranny of the Interwebz. Why? Because we love you, and we love to bring you weekly feed of nerd art.

On with the dump!

Above: Aww, a sad Doctor swinging on a swing, but an amazing painting by artist James Hance. The painter, who previously did work on the Winnie the Pooh/Star Wars paintings has done a series of incredible paints featuring Doctor Who‘s  9th, 10th and 11th doctors. Curse you for making us feel emotion, James. [Nerd Apporved]

Hit the jump for Portal 2, Game of Thrones and Vanity Fair. (more…)

Sometimes fighting supernatural threats just needs a female touch, so why not have suit up occasional ghost buster and resident Ghostbuster‘s secretary Janine Melnitz to tackle the ghosts and goblins. Nothing sexier then a woman in uniform, right fellas? Judging by the boys reactions though they need to step up their game, otherwise they’ll be looking for a new job (again!) [Deviant Art]

Hit the jump for Pokemon, Lord of the Rings and MOAR

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut.

Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the Tik-Tok/Star Trek music video, I suggest you look it up. It makes Ke$ha’s song almost bearable. This Doctor Who video though, comes in a close second. Warning, full of spoilers for “The Wedding of River Song.” (Bleeding Cool)

Star Wars Meets Winnie The Pooh

WTC1

A mash-up made in heaven, this is.

Artist James Hance has created one of the greatest mash-ups I have ever seen – putting together Star Wars and Winne the Pooh.

The cast shows Han Solo as Christopher Robin, Chewbacca as Pooh Bear, R2D2 as Piglet, and (my personal favorite) an AT-AT as Eeyore.

Seriously, I do not think these illustrations could be cuter if he tried. You will be glad to know that you can buy prints of all the illustrations for $10 here through his website.

Check out all the pictures located below, as well as his adorable little captions.

James Hance takes movies from his youth and injects them with some Star Wars juice. Right up my alley, seems like every piece of art should have some Star Wars added…

Geeksaresexy interviewed James Hance:

I’m inspired by television and movies from my childhood. It’s funny how you watch some of those things today and wonder why you were so obsessed with them at the time. I remember the Fonz being SO much cooler than he actually was. My paintings are basically just placards screaming ‘Childhood! It was amazing! I want it forever, please!’ I paint mainly in my pajamas, watching the Muppet Show and eating cereal. I’d like to think it shows. (more…)
