Jason Momoa

While it wasn’t the first role that Jason Momoa played on television, his portrayal of Khal Drogo in HBO‘s Game of Thrones is truly the role that thrust him into the public conscience. Now the creative mind behind that character George R. R. Martin is ready to share his thoughts on Momoa’s latest casting success as Aquaman in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and his own stand alone movie Aquaman. (more…)

Jason Momoa hasn’t been the most relaxed person when it comes to questions about his casting by Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder as Aquaman over the last couple of months. The Internet is abuzz with stories about his rumored casting and expected appearance in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Everyone was asking him about it at every turn, and he was denying or deflecting the question so much that the story became more about his reaction to the casting question, than the casting question itself. Here’s a couple of Momoa’s most memorable denials. (more…)

While Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’s director Zack Snyder had originally planned on filming some scenes in Africa, the Ebola outbreak in West African countries has forced the production to reconsider those planned locations. Now those scenes will be filmed in New Mexico and the local news channel 7, KOAT News has the big scoop. Let’s go to our roving reporter on the scene Marvin Olsen (Step brother to Jimmy Olsen) already in the field. Wait.. This post’s director is telling me in my ear piece that we don’t have a roving reporter and that I’m not wearing an earpiece. I’m guessing it’s time to take my medication. (more…)

Aquaman, fairly or unfairly, has long been a punchline among comic book fans, being derided for his seemingly useless aquatic-based powers, particularly when stacked up against powerhouses like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. DC Comics’ has taken strides over the years to make less of a butt of endless Robot Chicken jokes and more of a force to be reckoned with, from Peter David’s bearded-and-hooked Aquaman to writer Geoff Johns’ New 52 take on the character. With Jason Momoa confirmed as playing the King of the Seas in 2016’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, DC seems to be making a big push to make Aquaman the A-lister he was always meant to be. A piece of that push looks to be the newest DCU Animated feature, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, focusing on the half-Atlantean, half-human superhero, as seen in the newest trailer for the film. Jason Momoa is Tired of Hearing About Aquaman

As someone who’s a part of Hollywood, Jason Momoa obviously has some thoughts on the industry. It also seems he’s not terribly afraid of voicing his discontent, especially when it comes to his as yet unconfirmed role as Aquaman vastly overshadowing his recent film Road to Paloma. Momoa not only starred in Road to Paloma, but directed it as well, obviously making it more of a personal investment than his rumored role as Aquaman. But fans just don’t seem to care all that much, which is what prompted him to take to Instagram and post the below picture:  (more…)

It looks like we may see Aquaman a bit more than just his planned appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the planned Justice League film. According to THR, WB has ordered two separate script treatments for an Aquaman movie. Will Beall  (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) will both be taking a crack at the potential movie.  (more…)

There have been some rumors flying around about this little casting choice since December, though, naturally, no one would admit a damn thing. Now, it’s finally been confirmed. Aquaman shall be appearing (however briefly) in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice flick and he shall be played by none-other-than the former Conan and Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa. (more…)

First there were rumors that the sequel to Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel would co-star Batman: Confirmed. Then we heard Wonder Woman would be joining the party: Confirmed. Jon Stewart’s Green Lantern–perhaps portrayed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson–is apparently a possibility. But no one has confirmed or denied anything yet.

Most recently, the name Jason Momoa–of Game of Thrones, Stargate: Atlantis, and the disappointing Conan The Barbarian remake fame–has been tossed around as a possible candidate for Aquaman

This one’s a no–according to the actor himself. (more after the jump) (more…)
